Is this a New Scam

by Seller_PTena7LrLt9Wh

I have been contacted by a seller who is applying for trade mark names for very old listing where the original owner has ceased trading and then trying to force other sellers to stop selling claiming ownership.

Hi @Seller_PTena7LrLt9Wh,

Thank you for addressing this!

Did you submit Report abuse: Another seller account is attempting to harm my business ?

Would you mind sharing more details via private message?

Kind regards,

Julia.

I think legally, they can do this?

If a trademark has ceased, then it can be re-applied for I believe.

From my understanding, this is what happened with the motor vehicle maker MG Rover ?

Perfectly legal if TM has lapsed, seller would need to register TM then get Brand Registry before attempting to kick other sellers off & it certainly vwould not be in breach of any Amazon policy if it was done in that way.

We have noticed a couple of sellers doing this in the market we sell in, and one even went as far as trademarking the company name of someone that was still selling on Amazon to get them off their own asins.

Lowest scum on the planet if you ask me.
