Customers unable to leave review? Why HELP
Hi I find Amazon stressful and difficult especially as being independently published. Since selling on this platform I have experienced many issues. The biggest issue being the number of reviews not reflecting the number of books sold to feedback received on social media. I found it weird that I always received so much positive feedback but very little reviews from Amazon customers. So recently I asked an Amazon customer who emailed and posted on social media how amazing she thought the book was and would be purchasing more copies and highly recommended it as to why she didn’t review on Amazon and she told me that she had already tried but Amazon would not let her!! I could not believe it but it made sense as likely happened to all the other customers who tried before but was not able to for whatever reason! Has this happened to anyone else? I really need advice and help to solve this issue. Thank you

Firstly was she eligible to leave a review?
To contribute to Community Features (for example, Customer Reviews, Customer Answers), you must have spent at least £40 on Amazon co .uk using a valid payment card in the past 12 months. Promotional discounts don’t qualify towards the £40 minimum.

Who can write a review?
To write a Customer Review, you must have spent at least £40 on Amazon.co.uk. Prime subscriptions and promotional discounts don’t qualify towards the £40 minimum. After you meet this requirement, you’ll be able to review any product on Amazon.co.uk regardless of where you purchased that product. We don’t permit reviews of the same product from customers in the same household.

Besides what anglozone said, it’s possible that Amazon’s automated systems have flagged your sales as “suspicious” if they have been directed from social media channels.

Very strange but a customer who spent over £269 last month STILL not able to review?! It’s so unfair what Amazon are doing they are literally trying to ruin the business and only thing I can think of is because it’s black owned asvno reason for any restrictions

So I just received this blurb attached from Amazon .
I’m sorry but I really need a proper investigation as there is no fair reason our verified customers should not be able to leave review some customers spend over £100 month on Amazon and have bought the product directly from Amazon!!
It’s only flagged to us when we started to receive complaints from these customers who believe in our product and want to review and they complain they having issues?? Why Amazon?? Why are you unfairly sabotaging our business.
I’m also a prime member and regular Amazon customer and the more I investigate this I think it’s very strange and suspect and best to completely leave this platform as a buyer and customer as this is not right and I can only imagine how many other small businesses this has happened too!

It may be that something in her review breached Amazon’s guidelines, and so they refused it. I see some mention here about a minimum spend needed to allow customer reviews. That’s absolutely not true. I have made tiny purchases and left seller feedback and a review, with no issue from Amazon.
You should consider the possibility that, confronted by a seller asking her why she didn’t leave feedback, she simply said Amazon wouldn’t let her, to avoid any further contact on the issue. As a seller, I leave it up to the buyer to decide whether to give any kind of feedback. When I am asked to leave feedback by a seller I tend not to, simply because I think it is inappropriate of them to ask.

Thank you for your comment Demel. For over 2 years I did nothing, this is the first time i have highlighted these concerns to Amazon or used a forum. Also there has been a lot more than one person during this time and this is not my only issue! Just recently I started looking in to it more closely as I had the time to do so. In light of current affairs and my personal experiences with systemic racism, I have every right to bring race in to it and quite frankly find your comment rude.

How many have you sold? If that’s not too direct a question. Several of the books that I have had a hand in publishing have sold 2-3000 copies yet have fewer than 10 Amazon reviews. They get more reviews in newspapers and magazines than they do on Amazon, and obviously positive posts on social media and direct emails to the publisher far outnumber Amazon reviews also.
