Commingling Means your Genuine Goods can be swapped for Counterfeits!
A warning for those using Manufacturer Barcodes. Recently I created a removal order and received a different product back with the manufacturer barcode, they were counterfeits and also were 2 sent in different non amazon packaging, not a packaging I use.
Anyway I was doing some accounting and looked up that when you use a Manufacturers Barcode, you give permission to Amazon to send any sellers stock to your customer as long as it has the same barcode!
When I sent proof to Amazon that they sent the wrong product back and showed them the genuine product, they said they do not have to do anything or reimburse me as they have the right to swap the product for a similar looking one.
Unbelievable caught me off guard. So if you use manufacturer barcodes and you are getting some strange customer complaints this is why.
I had no idea this could happen! So if your product is a product that may be or is quite often counterfeited, you may want to think twice about using manufacturer barcodes!
Does anyone know how to disable commingling inventory? It's just asking for violations and loss of stock?
Hope this helps in case others were not aware!

might buy a few iPads and return some cheap Android tablets to get a refund. After all, they are ‘similar looking’
Jokes aside, I assume that response came from seller support?

counterfeits, used items boxed up as new, damaged goods, you name it, theyre co-mingled....
The response you got was most certainly from Seller Support, who seem paid to only say no to everything. Escalate your case and YOU WILL get reimbursed for Amazon sending you non genuine products

And to note, they dont have the right to send you a "similar looking one". They must replace your item with a genuine product with the same EAN as set out by the manufacturer/brand. If the brand changed the product packaging but its materially the same item and EAN, thats fine. If its not the same item, or not the same EAN, they cant send you a different product as a replacement, real or fake.

You should always use the manufacturers barcode. If you do not and use your own from GS1 you will run into problems using the Brand and getting approval to sell.
Ive not done FBA for awhile but when I did you could choose when you sent in items whether to co-mingle or not. So you will be better off choosing NOT to co-mingle. You will have to print out and attach new Amazon barcode labels (these should be put over the manufacturers barcode so that on receipt Amazon scan the correct one). Your items will then be separate from others with any returns from your orders going back to your stock.

Hi. Did you find out how to stop commingling? I didn't realise my stock is being commingled, but have just found a heap of amazon invoices charging me for this since Aug. Seller Central can't help me even find out how to stop commingling... its being referred to the tax department for some reason. It sounds wrong.
Any help in getting out of commingling would be appreciated. Thanks

Theres only two types of sellers who co-mingle stock. Those getting ripped off, and those doing the ripping.
Every seller should be properly warned about the absolutely shocking job that fulfilment centres do at vetting either the sellers sending in the stock, or the stock they send.
