To get a GS1 certificate, go to the USA website, Indian one is too costly. It was USD 25 when I got it. For each product iteration, you need a separate GS1 code. For example, if you have two colors of the same design, you will need to get a separate GS1 (just like you have a separate ASIN here).

Go for GS1 code if you are unable to get GTIN exemption and list. After getting GS1 for one of the iterations they will give you exemption more easily for the other iterations of your product.
