Royal Mail 2nd Class parcel option not always available through Amazon Buy Shipping

Hi All

Has anyone experienced not being able to buy a Royal Mail 2nd Class parcel label through buy shipping? I know that sometimes a a page refresh adds the option but not on this occasion.

Just tried to buy a 2nd class parcel label through RM / Amazon buy shipping. Dims are 25x17x3cm, weight 899 grams so well inside the dims & 2kg limit, it's not the last day for posting them either but the system has forced me into 1st class.

Thoughts please...

For a long time now when I try to buy 2nd Class Letter postage in the evening for the next day it only allows me to buy 1st Class.

There seems a cut off time where Amazon won't let you buy 2nd Class Post.

This I can understand if you should be shipping the item today. However in my case I am trying to ship items for the next day and setting the despatch date to be the next day. It always tells me only 1st class postage is available but if I try again in the morning I can buy 2nd Class.

It would be useful to be able to ship items in the early evening, especially at the moment when volumes are really high

This sometimes happens to me. I've figured out what causes it, but not why.

I'm in West Sussex. If an order is within West Sussex, I am forced to buy 1st class.

Even orders for Cornwall, Jersey, and the Scottish Isles are all 2nd class.

The time of day of the order makes no difference.

I've just put it down to Amazon being Amazon. It's annoying, especially as most of my items are £4.99, and the extra 65p (or whatever it is) postage really eats into profits.
