Product Liability Insurance

Hi,

Does anyone know if we are required to obtain a Liability Insurance when we are not the producer of the products that we are selling?

We are doing wholesale in EU and UK marketplace.

Thanks

You can be held liable for products you sell, regardless of whether you are the ultimate manufacturer. So it stands to reason that you should have adequate insurance coverage.

Hi @Seller_d5STcDUwj8ZoP,

Yes, you do need liability insurance for wholesale products you’re selling in EU and UK marketplaces, even if you’re not producing them yourself.

Here are the key points to understand:

  • Amazon requires all sellers to obtain commercial liability insurance within 30 days after exceeding USD 10,000 in gross proceeds in sales in one month on Amazon.com, or if otherwise requested by us.
  • This requirement applies to all products you list for sale in the Amazon store, regardless of whether you manufacture them or not.
  • The policy must cover all sales from products you have listed on the Amazon store.
  • The policy limit must be at least USD 1 million per occurrence and in aggregate, covering liabilities caused by or occurring in conjunction with your business operations, including products, products/completed operations and bodily injury.
  • The policy must name “Amazon.com Services LLC and its affiliates and assignees” as additional insureds.

It’s important to note that these requirements are designed to protect both you and your customers in case of any incidents related to the products you sell.

Regards,

- Manny
