Amazon holding inventory and funds indefinitely!!!

Could anyone please explain to me what I am doing wrong and what I can do to fix this as I am totally lost.

So during March 2024, I got en email saying I need to submit some documents to proof my VAT establishment.

During this time, I do not have VAT number registered as I was under the impression that I am below the 90K threshold.

Note that my business is based in the UK, I pay bills in UK, have UK address etc.

I submitted all documents and more as they keep asking for more.

Fast forward to May/June, Amazon deactivated my account saying they couldn't verify that my business is UK established.

I tried so hard to fight their decision because I believe it was inaccurate. But I had to succumb to their decision and agree that my business is not UK established and had to agree to pay VAT liability.

I was able to get a payment plan for the VAT liability because the amount was over 20KGBP.

During this period, I have registered for VAT number. I added my VAT number to seller central and it says "verified"

I submitted an appeal to "mdri-exec-escalations@amazon.co.uk" and "kyc-drtax-verification@amazon.co.uk" urging them to reactivate my account but I got an email this morning saying my account will remain deactivated.

Could someone please tell me why Amazon would refuse to reactivate my account? I am really lost and sad.

The most devastating part is that I have money held in my account, as well as inventory that is worth several ten thousands of pounds and Amazon is not allowing me to access none of them.

In what world is this acceptable? What did I do wrong here?????

Attached is the email I received this morning.

Is there ANYTHING, ANYWHERE on your account that has a non-UK address, or non-UK partner, director, or anything that makes them think you are not UK established ?

You may need to go to Amazon's mediation service.

Hello @Seller_0HwgQjBzrC6Qv,

This is Abella from Amazon to assist you.

We greatly appreciate you reaching out with your inquiry. Rest assured, we are committed to putting forth our utmost efforts to assist you with your query.

From January 1, 2021, Amazon will be responsible for collecting UK VAT on the following sales of goods delivered to customers in the UK where ordered through any Amazon storefront

Where either of these supplies take place, Amazon will calculate and collect UK VAT from the customer at checkout and remit this directly to the UK Tax Authorities. You will not receive the UK VAT amount in your disbursements and will not be required to remit these amounts to the UK Tax Authorities.

If you qualify for UK establishment: Please submit the necessary documentation. Our review process will be completed within 3 days. Upon verification of your UK establishment, your Amazon sales proceeds will become eligible for disbursement according to your disbursement schedule, typically within 24 hours. Furthermore, if your Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) inventory was held, it will be ready for removal within 48 hours.

If you do not meet the UK establishment criteria: Confirm that you are not established in the UK. In this scenario, documentation submission is not required, but you will need to resolve any outstanding VAT payments.

However, to better understand the issue, I would request that you share the last performance notifications you received from the team. This will allow us to review the details and provide more insights on the matter.

If you need any further assistance, you can post here so that we or any of the sellers on forum can help you.

Regards,

Abella.
