VTR - The big CRL v BPL scandal
Well, if you want your VTR percentage to drop like a stone then use Royal Mail 2nd Class BPL through Click & Drop! I’ve tried it and my percentage has dropped from 96 to 53 in four weeks.
Basically by using BPL you are covered for 20.00GBP compensation and get a tracking number which is scanned on delivery. The simple fact is that more BPL packages are scanned on delivery as Royal Mail don’t want to be facing a load of “lost or stolen” claims.
Sadly, Amazon do not accept BPL and class it as invalid for your VTR percentage even though it has a tracking number. Total nonsence.
CRL however is the worst possible service to use. Zero compensation from Royal Mail and about 30% of the packages don’t get scanned on delivery. In fact, Royal Mail could dump a full mail bag of your CRL in a skip and you would not get a penny in compensation!
What makes this even more ridiculous is that Amazon only offer CRL though their “Buy Shipping” scheme.
CRL is also more expensive for smaller sellers who are not VAT registered.
I have raised this issue with Seller Support but predictively I have only received a “cut & paste” answer saying use “Buy Shipping” from Amazon! Seller Support staff just don’t get it and have very little knowledge is these areas.
Sensible comments welcome.

Have you actually been suspended or are Amazon validating it behind the scenes?

There does seem to be a communication issue with bpl at the moment, even Ebay is unable to the delivery confirmation.
However… as sequin says, have you actually had listings suspended or are you just panicking because your percentage is dropping?
Regarding royal mail and crl, you can claim the postage back on non deliveries but yes you give up the right to content compensation
Amazon do offer 1st/2nd class through buy shipping, but not through your oba
Seller support don’t have a clue about vtr, and amazon are not going to change their policies because we don’t agree with them

Thats actually incorrect depending on the size parcel you send
BPL is cheaper than CRL if using small parcel below 2kg
CRL + surcharge actually makes it more expensive
see the thread here
We send all our under 2kg out as small parcels now after years of believing that the average CRL was cheaper and then suddenly realising it was one big con!
