Like you I have just spent ages looking for info on the fees ! - there used to be a chart, and even typing into the search box doesn't bring up anything relevant. I have just found this on a totally unrelated site to Amazon, but at least it does give some info ! - I did know about the higher fee for books over £5.00 (which includes the shipping cost) so in actual fact the higher fee is for anything priced over £2.20.
Books
5.10% with total sales price below £5.00
15.30% with total sales price greater than or equal to £5.00
Here is the video on Amazon Seller University, which should give you the info, but I couldn't be bothered to watch it !!

When you list an item it does give you the fees, eg.I have just sold a book for £9.95 and the fees are:
Price: £9.95
Delivery: £2.80
Amazon fees: -£4.47
Your earnings: £8.28

@Seller_ZVAz3d5lZuGidthose fees are outdated now - you know Amazon like to change things up ;)

Here is how it works out on a book priced at 2p under £5 on the pro plan (prices include postage):
Price: £4.98
Amazon fees: -£1.50
Your earnings: £3.44
[I just updated these figures to take account of the digital sales tax.]
There is effectively a dead zone between £5 and £6 where Amazon fees cancel out almost all the extra profit that would have been there before the hike in closing fees on book sales above £5.

This just about sums up Amazon. In a fairly short thread we seem to have 4 different sellers (at least 2 of them long term booksellers) giving different figures for fees on books. This is hardly surprising when you look at the link that another poster has provided. I find it incredibly difficult to follow what Amazon are saying. Does amazon give a simple precis of exactly what the fees are on selling books? Probably not they just like to keep sellers guessing
Incidentally I've been selling on Amazon for over 20 years and Ive never known what a "referral" fee is or why it is charged.
I am still annoyed at the 50p advantage that was effectivly given to the 1p sellers a few years ago

I have been selling knitting patterns FBM for £2 each. With £2.80 postage charge added the buyer pays £4.80. Amazon takes £2.41 fees which is just over 50% for doing pratically nothing!! Certainly no storage/shipping fees etc. DAYLIGHT ROBBERY
I have started selling the patterns for £3 each. The postage charge is still 2.80 so the buyer pays £5.80. Amazon takes £3.20 fees which is 55% !!
Also, when I list a pattern the page I list it on states that when sold I will receive £3.18, when you can see that what I actually get is £2.60. LIE
