Are Amazon Shoppers notified that they received counterfeit goods?
Recently had a seller pop up in a listing who was selling counterfeit goods. Between the time we reported them on Brand Registry and the time our complaint was accepted, the seller sold hundreds of units of inventory.
Do the customers who placed those orders get any kind of notification from Amazon to return the product or that the product they ordered is counterfeit? Or do they just receive the inventory and it's up to them to determine if the goods are authentic?

@Jim_AmazonI noticed your reply in this thread:

Maybe you can answer this question? Placing a test buy makes sense—Amazon has to have proof that the goods are counterfeit. But what about all the consumers who placed orders and don't know that the goods they received are fake?

Hello @Seller_tjI2EZ2b1d5Ml,
Dougal from the Community Manager Team here. If consumers are notified, that information is not made public. You can reference the Intellectual Property for Rights Owners help page and specifically the section "Result from submitting a notice of infringement."
Unfortunately, I cannot provide any more detail than what is on the help page.
Best, Dougal

I think the consumers are not notified, because what happens in our case is that they leave a negative review on the product (not the seller) saying the product is counterfeit. Sometimes they say that such and such item was not included, etc. But basically, the product rating takes a hit because of the counterfeit sellers.

Of course they're not notified
If they were it would destroy Amazon since they allow so many fake Chinese sellers to hijack listings so easily.

How did you know they were counterfeit products? Are you the manufacturer and owner of the trademark and patent? Just curious.

My brother received an email from Amazon telling him that an item he had purchased over a year ago may have been a counterfeit. It stated that he should dispose of it and his money was being refunded.
So, I would think that the same would apply to your case.

The answer is 100% NO!
We have had customers purchase counterfeits of our product via hijackers on our listing. Customers received fake versions of our patented product, at least 1,000 fakes were sold via Amazon.
Customers contacted us about it, shared pictures of the fake version. wrote real reviews about our product being 'junk' as they received a fake product.
We had a customer who loved out product so much, they went to their orders and clicked 'buy again' to send as a gift to their sister. Amazon re-routed that order to a counterfeiter and the sister received a fake, despite using the 'buy again' button.
We received communication from over 100 of those customers, (complaints mostly). Not one customer was notified by Amazon they bought a fake product. Not one was offered a refund for buying a fake product. We bought the fake also, we were not notified, nor given a refund. Amazon made money on all sales. Amazon is the true counterfeit seller!!
**the only reason we got the bad reviews removed was because they posted pictures of the fake, which clearly was not our product, so Amaozn removed that one, but others remain.
Report Amazon to the Federal Trade Commission about this issue.
