gs1 barcodes for products

So I have gone throuhgt the approval method and just got my brand name aprroved.
.I also got some barcodes for five products that i want to sell . i was thinking i can use ONE barcode for each product and then list all new listings under the barcode assign for each product..
This has proved a bit difficult to do , so iam thinking that you need a barcode for EACH listing and product . is this correct

You need an EAN for each SKU. So on for each variant and each condition for any given product.
Example - if you have one product in 5 colours, you need 5 EANs
