Amazons "One Tap Review"

I’ve just looked at one of my product as sales seem to have stopped and I saw that I had two reviews. One for 4 stars with a constructive comment as to why we lost a star and the other was a one-star review with no comment. I contacted seller support only to be told that this was one of the new types of reviews Amazon are allowing buyers to make with absolutely so comment attached at all. It’s designed to encourage buyers who don’t have time for leaving a comment to express their feelings about a product.

How does that help buyers make an informed choice? How can we ever stop competitors from leaving these reviews on our products?

Another loony idea.

There are often buyers who don’t understand the ratings system and leave a 1 star review along with a comment such as ‘Great product, would buy again’.

Now we’ll just think the product is rubbish instead of the buyer.

You do also have an option to respond to the negative product review by selecting comment. for example

Thank you for your product review. If you are dissatisfied with the product, please follow the Amazon returns process we would be more than happy to refund or replace. Unfortunately we are unable do neither because we not been made aware there was a problem with your order.

I don’t normally post my grumbles, but this has to be one of the worst ideas yet from the bigwigs at Amazon HQ.

So open to abuse for a start… Then how are we meant to improve a product without being able to see problems? And we all know that a lot of customers will happily leave a review without bothering to contact and find out that they’re completely mistaken.

I agree, another stupid pointless ‘innovation’.

I often check reviews on CDs and DVDs and I was puzzled why I’ve been seeing so many titles with starred reviews that lead nowhere when you click on the link.

I thought it must be a glitch at first but this seems to confirm that it is indeed another new ‘feature’.

As well as adding commentless ‘reviews’, Amazon also appears to have removed the Amazon.com reviews from BMVD and replaced them with reviews from other EU sites. These are mostly in French, German and Italian and come with the option of ‘translating this review’.
Replacing US English reviews with non-English reviews of English language films and books seems a bit bonkers to me.

Amazon please revert this! The amount of times I have indentified a competitor review or a paid for one star review… With this we cannot indentify these reviews. Completely open to abuse. You need to stop implementing new systems which hurt your sellers. You make more per sale than I do!

The product reviews should be slightly relaxed, even the out-right wrong ones are not removed!

We don’t get many product reviews but we have seen an increase in recent weeks so I think Amazon are achieving their goal in getting more customers to express their feelings about a product. However, the ability to leave a review without comment is just ludicrous. Only this morning we had a 3 star review. Luckily the customer left a comment so from this we could see her “average” experience was caused by the fact she hadn’t read or ignored a pretty important point we had in the product description. We were therefore able to post a comment against this defending our position but I’d be really annoyed if I had just had a review without a comment…and 3 stars isn’t even that bad a score.
