Who Pays for Return, Buyer or Seller?

a customer has opened a return request for the purchase of a
NAIL POLISH

the reason selected is:

Return Reason: Incompatible or not useful for intended purpose

would I be correct in assuming that I am liable for the return postage?
I’m guessing the real reason is she just doesn’t like the shade chosen

oh wow
just seen 14
performance not adequate
I’ve been authorizing a returnless refund on these, as I assumed it would be up to the seller to pay the return postage
I should have checked this table

How sad are some people, you just would give it to someone rather than mess about wanting to return it for less than £7!!!

You can deduct £3.20 for the postage costs and further deductions can be made if the order is not returned in accordance with the returns policy. Does nail varnish may come under the category of health and personal care?

The retail cost for nail varnish is £6.89. I suspect the outbound postage is around £3.00 (Small Parcel Postage and Packing Costs) which does not include any fees. Return prepaid label postage is £3.20, so the refund will be £0.29? Is it really worth returning? I would rather give it away

I didn’t think they could return nail polish due to an exempt product
due to hygiene reasons, same for all cosmetics, May be wrong

You’re liable for everything, always, even if the item is lost/damaged in transit.

Amazon has totally offloaded that expense to sellers, have fun!

I think the whole discussion has gone off topic now
The original question was whether it was economically viable for me to accept a return, depending on who is liable to pay return postage for whatever reason

At least you don’t get the return requests we get - personalised items where they spelt their own child’s name wrong
I’ve also had 2 orders this last week alone where I spotted it was a repeat customer - the first order had the age wrong too

Prepaid returns are exempt for the following categories

So my question would nail varnish come under the category of beauty or Health & Personal Care? If it’s beauty its exempt and if its health and personal care still exempt. So the seller should see not in policy when the return is made?
