FBA Returns and Refunds

Hi everyone,

So a query regarding FBA customer returns and refunds.

We have had a few occasions when a refund has been initiated from Amazon, paid by ourselves of course, due to a customer return.

However, the product that was ‘returned’ hasn’t shown up on the ‘FBA returns received by Amazon, screen.

I am aware that some buyers are fraudulent and that this could be the case here. I am aware that there is obviously a time limit etc on the customer shipping the item back…but some of the returns were sold around two months ago and we have only realised now…the joys of learning Amazon.

Anyway, my query is…how do we go about rectifying this?

Does seller support actually help on this matter? Would Amazon reimburse the refund we had to pay out if the product never actually gets returned?

Thank you.

It’s something that you need to check on a regular basis.
Amazon are supposed to refund these back to you, if the customer doesn’t actually return them etc.
It is an automatic process, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen.

You can manually check them, then raise a case with support for reimbursement.
But I would suggest that you look at using some software to do this, as it’s considerably easier and if you have a lot of returns, it usually pays for itself.

I believe its 45 days
If the buyer hasn’t returned it, amazon will recharge them and reimburse you

We are getting dozens of orders refunded every month, many of which are very clearly from dropshippers, different shipping address from the billing address, and usually in chunks of 2 or 3 claims coming together. We track which of these are being reimbursed, but the lack of diligence up-front from Amazon to prevent themselves being defrauded is frankly astonishing. I estimate at least 3-4% of our sales are orders of this type, even if we are reimbursed it still bothers me that this is happening with apparently no up-front checks, and I'm guessing returnless refunds.
