'Potential' High Pricing Error
I have just received another raft of these 'potential' high pricing alerts, and need to have a rant !! One of the latest ones is only £5 more than the lowest price, and I priced it at that because it is genuinely like new, and the others are only good or VG. The word 'potential' annoys me too, as they are insinuating that it is actual, not possible. Also, they say "Sellers are responsible for setting their own prices on Amazon marketplaces." - again not true when they deactivate for setting your own price !! ........and they compare prices " higher than recent prices offered on or off Amazon" - again, so wrong IMO.
Rant over !!

I get about 10 of these day, for our own branded products that only we sell. There is no reference price, as they are my brands and we make them. If it is other peoples brands then you will fall into the trap of going to the lowest price and going bust as you dont make any money. Just sayin!

It happens in all categories.
Amazon somehow gets a reference price (often set years ago and doesn't move even to allow for inflation) and won't allow a listing above that to be featured and/or issues potential price alerts when the market outside of Amazon has moved to a different level. Other items can be featured offers way above the market outside of Amazon, there is no rhyme or reason.

Hi JillyB
Around a year ago I was offering a scarce VG book for £50 and it infringed Amazon's potential pricing error as they were offering a new copy for £14.99 (it's original price).
So I ordered it - and it's still awaiting delivery to Amazon for onward despatch to me...
The offer of a NEW copy has been removed and there is now a Used Good copy available for around £100 - but I've sold mine...
All Best

I received one and despite the evidence showing that we are the same price as external retailers Amazon aren't having any of it. Getting really frustrated with the amount of bots about that don't look at the bigger picture and like someone else said say probably found a price from years ago

This new system is becoming a joke, price too high, price too low, under minimum price and now when you want to browse new products they now appear in a box on the left of the page and you cannot see the images, also the worse is yet to come, on the U.S site zero levels now have no levels box and you have to open a new window and set up the item again just to add inventory.
It is quite evident that these people have nothing to do and to justify they jobs they constantly update what does not need updating just to justify their existence, all these new changes are a complete waste of time and serve no benefit whatsoever and actually make life more difficult for sellers.

just told Amazon this on their latest poll - question was "Amazon is good for small business" - told them no and then told them more or less exactly what your rant said - agree so much!

We’ve encountered an issue where some of our listings have been made inactive due to pricing errors flagged as too high. Ironically, Amazon sells the same products themselves, holds the Buy Box, and their price is £2 higher than ours. Despite offering a lower price, we’re unable to sell the product because our price is deemed “too high.” It’s frustrating and doesn’t make much sense.

It's not really a "rant" - you are just stating the truth.

I agree with your RANT. I believe that Amazon could be breaking the law here as it is your right to set your own prices. This may be an issue which you should raise with the CMA as part of the commitment which Amazon have made.

I have had this with a lot of our listings also, some of which aren't even sold by other sellers so how we can have a "potential high pricing" alert for an item that we alone sell is beyond my comprehension. What are they even comparing the pricing to??
End up just having to create a new listing for some of these products.
Incredibly frustrating!
