Hello,
Due to a change in Amazon policy, from May 19, 2022, you will be unable to sell the following on Amazon.co.uk as seller fulfilled orders:
- Bladed articles which require age verification under the "new Offensive Weapons Act 2019" (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2019/17/contents/enacted), including kitchen knives and chef’s knives. For a full list of age-restricted bladed articles, go to "Listing guidelines for bladed products":
https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/external/201852820
To best prepare for this change, find specific guidance below:
-
Seller fulfilled offers: You can continue to sell your available units of eligible bladed articles through approved AVD carriers until May 18, 2022. From May 19, 2022, you will no longer be able to sell these products.
-
Can I replenish seller fulfilled offers after May 19, 2022?
You will no longer be able to list new offers or replenish existing offers of bladed products that are sold as seller fulfilled from May 19, 2022.
If you would like to continue selling these products on Amazon.co.uk, you can move the products into the "Fulfilment by Amazon" program:

As you would expect, the Live Chat function was a waste of time.
I dont understand what Amazon do differently for an FBA order (its still ordered the same way & delivered using an age verified process) compared to fulfilling the order - seems like an excuse to drive product to FBA (which wont work for us as we will close the Amazon store & just sell on our normal site instead).

I think the most probable answer to that, is that Amazon then have full control over it.
If you send something out, then it’s not so easy to verify that it’s an age related service for the delivery.
And I would be willing to bet, that some have been getting around this, which probably put’s Amazon in a dodgy position in regard to the law.

Using Royal Mail Age Verified Tracked service - so exactly the same principal as their driver checking the age
