Need Expert Support – Sales Down 50%, Losing on Ads (ASINs B08QH58SK8 & B08QH2KGL4)

Hello everyone,

I’ve been selling on Amazon for over 5 years as a side business. While things were stable in the past, I’ve seen a sharp decline in performance recently — with my overall sales dropping by 50% over the past two months.

I’ve invested in Sponsored Ads, keyword optimisation, A+ Content, and even consulted Amazon Seller Support, who confirmed my account is healthy with no violations or issues. Despite these efforts, my advertising spend is leading to consistent losses with very little return.

Two ASINs in particular — B08QH58SK8 and B08QH2KGL4 — used to be my best-performing, high-profit products. Now, I’ve had to reduce prices to near breakeven just to try and maintain some sales volume.

I’m urgently looking for actionable feedback or expert insights:

Could you kindly review these ASINs and suggest areas for improvement?

Are there realistic and cost-effective strategies that could help turn this around?

Any proven tactics for external traffic or listing enhancements?

would really appreciate any support or advice. Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Best regards,

I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with your listings - but I'd say there are a couple of things to consider...

- Are people posting as much as they were 5 years ago?

- If you take C5 pack of 25 envelopes. Yours are £4.99 - the Amazon choice is half that price.

There's no such thing as a sure guaranteed seller in business. I think the best thing to do is look to diversify outside of envelopes.

Hey,

I had a look at your listing and I can see that the competition is really giving you a tough time.

I had a few of your ASINs open, and this is just my observation — maybe you're aware of it, maybe not. But as an example, take your ASIN A (25 A4 Envelopes – 600 sales in the last 30 days, price £6.99) compared to ASIN B Amazon Choice (25 A4 Envelopes – 2,000 sales in the last 30 days, price £3.15).

As you can see, they’re offering the same product at half the price — and for Amazon, that’s the number one factor when it comes to pushing listings forward. I don’t know what your margins or options are, but price plays a huge role.

Also, notice that your competitor has a main image that looks like the product packaging, but with text overlaid. It clearly shows what the product is and how many are included. You might already know this, but Amazon's RUFUS AI now reads image content — not just titles and bullet points — and uses that to serve products to customers.

Image overlay SEO isn’t exactly brand new, but around 80% of sellers on Amazon US are already doing it. I’m not sure how established it is in the UK, but I believe it’s already having a big impact on visibility and search rankings.

From my point of view, you’ve done a good job with your listing overall. But try to reflect on what I mentioned — maybe some of it could be affecting your performance.

Also, I noticed it looks like you don’t have a registered brand. That means anyone can potentially hijack your listing, lower the price, and start selling under your ASIN. That happened to me before I registered my brand — some Chinese sellers hijacked my listing and started selling a different product under it. It took a long time to get the listing back, and by then, it was already damaged because customers were unhappy with the wrong product.

After that, I registered my brand. In the UK, it costs a minimum of £170 for one class of goods and covers you for 10 years.

I hope some of this helps you. I’m just a fellow seller, and I struggle with the same kind of issues — so don’t take anything I’ve said as advice from a certified expert. I’m just a guy passing by. Wishing you the best of luck!

Hello @Seller_94SKZetB1dacs,

My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I recommend going at least 1 more layer down to identify where the decrease is coming from. You may have already done this, but take a look at these 2 ASINs in Business Reports for the last 90 days (or however long you have been experiencing this drop) and focus on the following metrics to start:

  • Page views (mobile and desktop separately) - Where do you have more views (desktop/mobile) when comparing this number to Sessions - are customers leaving and coming back or never returning?
  • Sessions (mobile and desktop separately) - Where do you have more views (desktop/mobile)
  • Featured Offer % - price may be a factor here, but are you low on your FBA inventory and your MFN lead time is longer?
  • Units refunded - Are you taking a hit on increased returns, is there a common theme and if so, can this be addressed in bullet points, A+ content etc.?

After analyzing the above you can potentially shift your Ad spend so it is better optimized to the area you are trying to target.

There are a number of other potential resources in Brand Analytics if you are enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry. I find the Market Basket analysis particularly helpful to understand frequently purchased together to potentially create a virtual bundle that your competitors may not be offering.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

To @Seller_ZJhFeE3tNKzfh, @Seller_j9nbblCHcVgo0, @Seller_RNcqKX0eok7NI, @Seller_d8WfbEccuaGMc, and @Seller_IZMia0ASJ6cAm - thank you for your input and sharing your experiences as well. Hopefully any of you that are experiencing similar can take some of what I posted above and use it too.

Best, Dougal
