Most Cost-Effective Way to Dispose of 500 FBA Books

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice on the most cost-effective way to remove or dispose of 500 books currently in FBA storage in the UK. I'm open to both disposal through Amazon and exploring alternative options.

Here's what I've considered so far:

FBA Disposal Fees: I'm aware Amazon offers disposal services, but I'm unsure if this is the most economical choice for a large quantity of books.

Removal Orders: Returning the books seems like a lot of work, and I'm concerned about the removal fees for 500 items.

Alternative Disposal Methods: I'm curious if anyone has experience with donating books to UK charities or using bookselling services for bulk removal.

My questions are:

For those who have disposed of large quantities of books through FBA in the UK, what were your experiences regarding cost-effectiveness?

Are there any hidden fees or considerations for FBA disposal of a large number of books?

Would removal orders be a viable option for this quantity, or are there better alternatives?

Any insights or advice from the community would be greatly appreciated!

It is actually cheaper to pay Amazon to remove them than dispose of them - assuming you are in the UK. Whichever you choose you are paying the relevant fee x500. Disposal can mean Amazon will donate them charity or simply to landfill - you can't choose which.

The only other option through Amazon is liquidation which does have a lower per-item fee, but they still charge the referral fee on however much they sell the 500 books for (assuming someone wants them). You have no control over how much they sell for. You also must be registered for VAT.

Outside of Amazon you could of course sell the 500 books to another business or donate to charity, but of course you'd still have to pay the removal fee.

If you do go down the removal route, then in theory you could end up getting 500 packages each with a single book. It doesn't typically work out like that, but you will get many packages rather than a giant box of 500 books.

I didn't find the removal prices anywhere,so,i said to go ahead. Now i got the invoice.

£525 for 400 books to be removed to the address.

I don't know if it was the cheapest way,but i don't understand why they didn't gave me the price before hand.
