Ungating and distributors.
Hello! I am new to selling on Amanzon and looking to do amazon wholesale or arbitrage. I know that to ungate I will need to show an invoice from a authentic distributor of the brand.
Can someone please tell me if i need to have a business set up to reach out to distributors?
Will they just send me the items or will they need a lot of verification?
How can I search for authentic distributors?
Any help is appreciated!

Arbitrage sellers get suspended due to not having a valid supply chain. You won't last long here if you try arbitrage.
Yes, you need a legitimate business to open an account with a wholesale distributor.
They will need to verify your business, and your credit / trade references
You call the brand owner and they direct you to their authorized wholesale distribution in your area.

Hello @Seller_Hx32SFCsDML2M,
Thank you for your questions about getting started with wholesale or arbitrage selling on Amazon.ca. As a new seller, it's great that you're looking into the proper steps and requirements.
When it comes to selling branded products on Amazon, there are some important considerations to keep in mind:
Ungating and Brand Restrictions:
- Many brand-name products require approval or "ungating" before you can list them for sale. This typically involves providing invoices or other documentation to prove your authorized purchasing channels.
- It's crucial to ensure you are sourcing products from legitimate, authorized distributors to avoid any issues with Amazon's policies or potential legal concerns.
Business Compliance:
- While you don't necessarily need a formal business set up to sell on Amazon, having one can streamline certain processes and make you a more attractive partner for suppliers.
- Registering your business, obtaining any required licenses, and maintaining proper records are all important steps to consider.
Supplier Vetting:
- When reaching out to potential wholesale suppliers or distributors, be diligent in verifying their authenticity and authorization to sell the brands you're interested in.
- Reputable suppliers should be willing to provide the necessary documentation to demonstrate their legitimacy.
I'd strongly encourage you to thoroughly review Amazon's seller policies, as well as reach out to Seller Support, to ensure you understand all the requirements and best practices for your specific selling activities. Taking the time to set things up properly from the start can save you a lot of headaches down the road.
Please let me know if you have any other general questions! I'm happy to provide further guidance.
