Selling on Amazon USA, using FBM from UK. Anybody experience in this?
We are Amazon UK sellers. We have a Ltd company, are Brand registered etc.
We are now interested in selling some of our products in USA, but would like to open our USA account, upload a product in 6 variations and start selling, using FBM fulfillment before we decide to send our products direct from China to USA FBA.
Has anybody experience with this? Does Amazon USA allow this? Does Royal Mail deliver in time? Any issues with importing small individual parcels into USA etc?
Any help and tips would be much appreciated.
Bob

You will be asked for documents to show that you have product liability insurance that is structured specifically for US market (your insurance schedule need to have a clear line stating that the product liability insurance covers US market for XX millions). It is a requirement by Amazon US (I can’t remember they need minimum 2 mil or 5 mil, but most insurance companies are familiar with this requirement by Amazon US). Amazon will probably require you to upload the document when you hit certain threshold (or after you open your account, I can’t remember the exact details)
You say you are brand registered. Are you brand registered in US as well? (this will need trademark by USPTO). If you are not brand registered in the US, then you may not be able to list under the same brand (north american portal is separate from europe portal, so it will not know that you have brand registered in Amazon UK).

Hi,
Thanks for the advice, two important points that I am noting! I will register my trademark with the USPTO before starting. Any advice on which insurance companies that sell this insurance covering the US ? Would save me searching if you had any names. Thanks again!

Yup, totally okay. Beware RM and shipping times. You’ll probably end up setting your transit times so high it’s probable most buyers would be put off.
US has very generous import regulations for most items (but do check for banned imports) - buyers can personally import up to $800/day without taxation issues - unless the item is subject to import duties.
Product liability insurance is expensive and difficult to obtain. You only need the joint indemnification coverage if using FBA if memory serves, not for FBM.

we took ALL shipping outside the UK off about 3 years ago due to ever increasing problems costs.
US sales took a age to arrive, so A-Z’s time and again!
Our business insurance went up (a lot) as we shipped to the US).
Give it a go and see how it goes.
