OTP Nightmare MODS PLEASE READ!
Good morning,
My family member as of yesterday around 6pm is unable to login past the OTP part of the signin process. It continually loops around and no OTP code is even tried to be sent. All he receives is please try again in one minute, he has sold on amazon for the last few years without any issue but now cant fulfil any open orders due to not being able to login and there seems to be no way around this.
He has clicked on the account recovery and sent over his passport to seller support and asked for the 2 step auth to be removed so he can log back in, but albeit has not received any communication or reply.
Can this be escalated as i have looked around the forums and quite a few people are experiencing this issue, and ultimately paying customers will not be receiving their orders on time due to no fault of their own.
Thank you

This has been a constant thorn in the side of sellers for a long time. Having spoken to a number of sellers just this last week, they have got round the problem by using an Authenticator app. Might be worth a try :)

hi the OTP is only working from the authenticator app for us
Was really straight forward to setup and adds that level of security to the account so do recomend

I was having the same issue, it worked fine on one MacBook but not the other.
I ended up tethering my mobile data from my phone to my MacBook and trying ti that way, and let it let me in first time

Hi,
I had this issue, I was able to log in via one pc. Via security settings I was able to add authenticator app. Then was able to log into other pc using authenticator app. You may be able to change the 2fa options via mobile too, I did via pc but it is probably possible via the mobile app.
Hope this helps someone.

I hade problems for 2 days and then it started to work again but ONLY with the authenticator app. It means I log on with my laptop and the have to go to my phone to get the auth code and type that back into my laptop what a complete plalava.

Hi,
We had this issue for the past 24 hours. We ended up ringing the seller support who managed to rush this as we were a business account. It is all up and running now, we set up the authenticator app as soon as we were able to get in as a preventative measure. However, our account heath has suffered greatly now because of the late dispatches from yesterday.
Definitely needs sorting soon!

Hi,
I had the exact same problem a few months ago and it was an excruciatingly annoying experience. Couldn't get anywhere with contacting anyone to assist, the chap I spoke to on the phone was very polite but just ended up looping me back to steps I had already tried. In the end I left it until the next morning and it worked straight away.
I think if you request too many OTP in a certain period of time it blocks you from getting a new passcode sent over, I think that's why after leaving it overnight it reset it. As far as I know as well there is no way for sellers to remove this step from sign in so every morning I have to go through this process when logging in.
I hope this helps and that it comes back to life tomorrow for you like ours did.

Same problem for me. I rang the Amazon customer service tel number (0207 084 7911) for buyers as my buyer account also had the same problem and I could not access anything. They advised me to recover my account by requesting two step authentication was disabled. They forwarded me the link to this but it can also be found online. This involved uploading photos of my passport and driving licence (showing my address, photo, name etc) yesterday. Finally, had an email from Amazon support this afternoon to say that they had turned off two-step verification so I was able to access my buyer account (but not my seller account). They advised that I would not be able to access my seller account until I had re enabled two step verification.
I then downloaded google authenticator on my phone, went to my account settings in my Amazon buyer account on my pc, and then into login and security details, clicked on two step verification and 'manage' where I had the opportunity to choose authenticator for the two step verification (instead of phone number).Having spent hours trying to find out what authenticator I could use on a pc (not very IT savvy) it turned out I just needed to install google authenticator on my phone, generate a qr code from my amazon account when I was setting up two step authentication, read the qr code with my phone and google authenticator app then gave me a code to put into Amazon. I'm writing this because I really had no clue how to do this but it was very simple and anyone who has done it before will probably think I'm stupid!. (I tested it using facebook first to see how it worked and how easy it was) Then when I logged into my Amazon seller central account, it just asked me for my email address, password and my authenticator code and I am now thankfully back in, having only lost one business day.
(I did also contact seller support on their password reset contact form (for use when you can't log in). If you use this, beware the other option is for account termination so I was careful not to click on that.. Seller support emailed me a few hours later to say that my account was being verified and that they couldn't help me further. Most helpful.)
