Is it possible to reuse EAN barcodes?
I design and manufacture my own products (greetings cards) and they are only sold by me so no other sellers are on my listings.
Some obviously sell better than others and I will discontinue the slow sellers as and when.
Once I’ve discontinued something is there anything to stop me reusing its barcode on a different card rather than keep paying to generate a new one each time?

Technically, no. But as the catalogue page becomes Amazons then its probably forbidde
I dont think the Handmade section requires barcodes, nor brand registry … is it worth exploring these possibilities as an alternative ?

Hi, you don’t need barcodes to sell on FBA, just the product codes from GS1, Amazon create their own barcode… You only need to buy barcodes if you sell to retailers. You can use your Product codes as often as you like, just give Amazon 24 hours to forget what they were used for before.

Would the Asin not be aligned to that barcode? if you have already used it?

We use our own EAN barcodes for many products and have found that if you try and use them again, the original product you used them for appears and the system asks you to edit the listing using a different code. It is obviously possible to reuse them in some circumstances because on numerous occasions, we have entered a barcode for a product (in particular Ravensburger jigsaws) and found the product is completely different. That said, EAN codes are incredibly cheap to buy so no need to reuse really. We got 1000 of them for £8 online and they are perfect. And one of the good things about them is, the first six digits are always the same so it identifies our own products quite nicely:)
