Open Orders (FBA Pending)

I have sold 193 units since the end of August (which is when I started selling). My dashboard shows 35 "Open Orders/FBA Pending" is it normal to have this many open orders? It makes me nervous that so many items may still have payment pending. I don't understand how that works anyway, whenever I purchase something on amazon for myself it charges my card immediately so how can it take so long to collect payment? Thanks for any responses!

Amazon charges the buyers when the item enters the shipping process,.

I usually have around 3 days worth of open orders. And since I have lots of product at FBA warehouses across the country, if you're still small you might have a few more days than that waiting to be shipped and charged.

Hi @Seller_CLfUZjpQ8J5y6,

Dominic from Amazon here, happy to help!

On the Manage orders page, an order with a status of Pending might indicate an issue with the buyer's payment method or a convenience store payment method. In some cases, our payment and order detail verification processes can potentially extend order processing times for as long as 21 days.

Amazon assumes the risk of buyer non-payment for every order in the Unshipped orders report, and for every order that can be confirmed or canceled on your Manage orders page.

Here are some of the most common reasons for orders being in Pending status:

  • Amazon has been unable to obtain authorization for the buyer's credit card.
  • The buyer selected convenience store payment but hasn't completed the payment.
  • For an FBA order, the buyer has qualified for free shipping and the order is waiting for all of the order items to be gathered.
  • For an FBA order, if the order is for multiple items but one item is out of stock. Even if Amazon chooses to divide the order and send the in-stock FBA Units, the order will still show Pending status.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Best,

Dominic

Same here. I sold 11 items last week and it's all pending awaiting payment from the buyer. I emailed customer service and they said they will investigate.
