Combining letter postage

I already know the answer, I know Amazon aren't listening and I know my account can just about take the hit, but has anyone come up with a solution yet to when a customer places multiple separate orders for items going by letter post, other than buying separate RM L postage for each item?

Second week in a row, customer (different customers) places an order for a greeting card. Then 2 minutes later places another order for a different greeting card going to the same address. Seems they've never heard of a basket!

Since we HAVE to buy Letter postage through Amazon (unless sending tracked) and since we CANNOT combine orders in Amazon going to the same address, I either have to ship each item separately (great green credentials you're promoting Amazon), ship them together (yes, I know there is risks in that too regarding INR claims) and bin one of the stamps, or take a VTR hit by marking one as shipped by Stamps/Franking or Self Delivery.

C'mon Amazon (again, I know they're not listening and don't care), but can we PLEASE have the means to combine orders going to the same address. Or some other means to overcome this issue. We can't even mention anything about this issue on our listings, instructing buyers to use the basket function.

Yes, it's only 75p per hit, but it's the principle that annoys me more and the fact they know this is an issue but do nothing (sod your polls!). It's not even as if they are making money on RM L postage, so a small tweak at their end doesn't affect them but would greatly help sellers. And yes, in a few days, I won't care. But margins are tight enough as it is.

If someone has an alternative answer I'm missing, I'm all ears. Putting the code in from L postage bought for one into the other shipment doesn't work. Tried that before.
