Why do old versions of my book appear on the Amazon search page as 'currently unavailable' - when they are deleted from my inventory
Hello
Every few years we publish new versions of the same book, we go into our inventory and delete the old listing and then add the new version (they have the same SKU). Our new version then goes live, however we have noticed that we have lots of old versions that still appear on the Amazon search page. When you type in the book title (X-PERT Diabetes Handbook) all the old versions which are outdated an no longer in print appear as ‘Currently Unavailable’. Is there anyway that these listings can be deleted? We thought that when we deleted the product from our inventory it would automatically remove it from Amazon search.
Many thanks in advance for some help!

Deleting a listing from your inventory doesn’t delete it from the catalogue and sellers don’t have a way of deleting a listing from the catalogue. Since each new version is different from the previous one then they would need a new listing.
Generally Amazon don’t like showing out of stock items in search so i am curious as to why so many show. I can see a few have 3rd party sellers selling used copies, but most are completely unavailable.

Would have to agree on the SKU front - just for a clean system, a new version of the book should get a new SKU. The old books won’t disappear from amazon though as the ISBNs will exist still.
I wonder if the out of stock issue is down to the small number of returned results - if results are below X, still show out of stock items?
