Customer looking for delivery of a pending order
Hi, has anyone else had problems with customers getting stroppy because their ‘pending’ order hasn’t been delivered? Can they actually see that there is a problem with their payment method?
I’ve got one going off on one because we are passed the delivery date, and yet the order is still in pending and I can’t do anything about it…
Cheers

Never had that problem.
Have you made her aware that there’s a problem with her payment card?

Nothing a Seller can do, Buyer should contact Customer Services, to help with sorting out any problems with their order.

What delivery date? If the order is still pending there won’t be a delivery date, surely?

i don’t worry about it, its not a sold: despatch now job until its been paid for. you have no liability until its been paid for and amazon tell you its safe to ship.

She could’ve bought it twice. If she has a delivery date then payment must’ve gone through. Or she is just looking at the product page where it says ‘get it by …’
If there was a problem amazon would’ve emailed her asking her to update card details or whatever.
Ask her to check her junk email or ask her to try and re-buy.

Yes, if they log in and view their order history page, they’ll see a message stating that they need to update their card, for example.
I had one the Friday before Christmas moaning that his order hadn’t been delivered even though he selected the next day option. Checked his order and it was still showing as pending, as it stayed for a week before it got cancelled. Not only that, but he ordered at 1am Friday morning and was complaining he hadn’t received it that same day.

I think that she was perhaps looking at the ‘get it by’ date as I most definitely haven’t had any payment. She was certainly able to message me but the sale is still pending (and has been for 3-4 days now). I did ask her to check her payment card so am awaiting the response from that now.
Strangely I had another message from her a couple of days ago with a mobile number asking that I let the recipient know when it would be delivered as she is a ‘night nurse’ and may well be sleeping.
I pointed out then that the item still hadn’t been cleared for shipping by Amazon and that parcelforce would text to let the recipient know when it would be delivered.
It’s an item for £110… now beginning to wonder if these messages are a foreboding of what may be coming… item not received, for instance…
Hmmph.

Customers really beggar belief. Amazon customers in particular have huge chips on their shoulders. We sell through our own website too and my customers there are delightful!

After another three emails from the customer, all in the middle of the night, I replied again and told her that she had to contact customer services as there was simply nothing that I could do. I was also beginning to smell a rat at that point as the recipient was not going to be around after the 5th to receive the parcel…
Anyway, the pending order simply disappeared after that so I am hopeful that the issue has gone away and have heard nothing more.
Phew… a lucky escape I think!

I had a customer repeatedly insist I send an order that was still pending and I kept explaining I couldn’t send it until her payment was cleared by Amazon.
Then CS sent me a message demanding that I immediately post the item (even though it was still pending). So I complained to SS.
The customer told me her father was on his deathbed and needed to read the book before he died. I told her the book was sitting on my desk ready to be posted as soon as Amazon had been paid and forwarded the order to me.
Eventually the payment cleared and I posted the book at 6am.
SS waited until after the problem no longer existed so they could say it had been resolved and didn’t need addressing.
