£30 fee charged
Hello
I have just opened an account to sell second hand study books. I haven’t listed anything yet.
By default I have unfortunately been charged £30 and enrolled to a professional plan, both of which are not what I intended. I believed I’d been very careful to avoid such pitfalls but I think it may have been impossible to avoid this when first opening an account. Am I right or did I go wrong somewhere? Please would someone kindly advise if I can recover this £30? I have now found my account and downgraded it, but it seems the downgrade is for in a month’s time at the earliest. I haven’t been able to make the downgrade immediate.
Secondly I also seem to have been signed up to international marketplaces. I only want to sell in the UK but I can’t find where I can cancel the ability to sell in other countries. Could someone point me in the right direction with this?
Any help would be much appreciated.

The registration process has changed over time, but generally there has been a way to register with the “free” selling plan, though sometimes it has been somewhat obfuscated.
You can’t make the downgrade immediate since you have already paid for the next month. You’ve done the right thing in downgrading and can contact Support (Help in top right corner of Seller Central) to request a refund.
As for having other marketplaces, if they are in the EU then you’ve done nothing wrong as UK / EU come as a single package. Sellers can disable international shipping in the shipping settings to prevent orders from abroad.

Yes, just as Demel says, and I have noticed, the current registration page has a big orange button that says ‘Sign Up’, but underneath in very small print is ‘£25 (excl. VAT) per month + selling fees’ which automatically enrols you in the Professional Selling Plan, rather than individual plan, and of course, what do all new sellers do but click on the Sign Up button !!
You can open a case with seller support and ask for a refund of the fee, as long as you have not sold anything, and your account and bank info is all fully verified. It will say downgrade pending until the next payment would have been due, but you will not be charged again.
As a seller of used books, then for you it really is not worth being on the Pro. plan unless you sell a minimum of 33/34 a month.
You need to ensure that all other countries are on holiday settings and that you do not assign your bank account to countries you do not want to sell in.
