Additional information required confusion
Hello. I’ve had the ‘Additional information required for your selling on Amazon’ notification. I click >Complete the required information> Complete the required information> Performance notification> Action required [etc. etc. pause for breath]. Then the ‘usual’ HMRC thing, gave up on waiting for HMRC to answer, then realised that my self-assessment statement was available on line as a pdf, so that would do.
HOWEVER, on returning to the page to upload, nothing doing for the HMRC stuff but under ‘Power of Attorney’ it reads as ‘invalid document’.
I’ve read some forum posts about this and will use the help section letter form but ‘Business Letter Head’? I don’t have printed business letter-headed A4 sheets but can I just type in my address (and do it to and from myself)?
Has anyone else done this successfully as a sole trader?
Thanks,
Chris
P.S. Sorry about the long post…

they don’t seem to accept the statement
either send your notice to complete a tax return from this year or call HMRC and get an up to date UTR confirmation letter

Thank you Virgil. If I follow the links to Performance Notification, it asks for ‘Business Verification Documents’ (relating to HMRC).
However, the ‘upload’ button isn’t available for these.
The upload button is available for ‘Power of attorney’.
So does Amazon require a HMRC document or a Power or Attorney letter?!

Had the same request last week- !'m a sole trader like yourself.
To get a lertter from HMRC re-stating my UTR I phoned them up and waited for nearly an hour (have cup of favourite beverage and something to read while you wait…) BUT the letter came within a few days and worked a charm on the Amazon bots when I uploaded it in the ‘power of atorney’ section.
Hopefully they won’t bother me for another few years.

Hello @Wormhill_Books,
I’m Kavi from Amazon, here to assist you.

Based on the performance notification, we recommend you to please submit the requested document through “Upload Power of Attorney” button.
In case you are not able to provide any of the requested documents, you can request a Confirmation of Unique Taxpayer Reference letter by calling HMRC and asking for the "Self-Assessment Department".
We would request you to kindly follow this link
It will help you understand the requirements of being tax compliant across EU and UK.

I spoke to soon…they requested a utility bill the following day. It was quickly accepted but the email they sent requesting it was a masterclass in gobbledegook.
