Amazon is insufferable

I find it utterly galling how amazon applies arbitrary guidelines to allow me to sell books because they disagree with controversial titles. I have my account under review now & disbursement blocked because books, I have removed for sale incidentally, do not comply with the latest ideological-fashion as determined by amazon. I bought all books on amazon to begin with!! Utterly insane & indicative of censors who have zero clue about the content of the books. Judging by titles betrays how the latest criteria gets derived by a gaggle of morons.

Can you give us some idea of the books they are not allowing you to sell.
A while ago many of us had books deactivated with the word N*zi in the title.

We had a movie poster of American History X removed due to the swastika on Ed Norton’s chest.

Funny thing is, at the same time, Amazon were displaying the same artwork for the prime video on demand version!

Would they listen… I think you know the answer!

This is very odd. a search for the keyword ‘Hitler’ brings up over 30,000 results including numerous books. it isn’t therefore possible that Amazon’s bot software is targeting the word ‘Hitler’ as that doesn’t make sense. There has to be more to it.

Now just waiting for the day Amazon ban the word ‘Black’…

These books shouldn’t be buried, they are a part of history and if you are trying to do a degree and need a book for a dissertation to argue a point or to get a point across then you need access to these books. To ban them means ignoring the past and hiding it under a slab as if it didn’t happen and then nobody learns from it.

I once had a pair of tights removed (on another platform), as the shade was GUNMETAL GREY

The problem is that what they deem ‘offensive’ seems to be highly selective.

For example if you search Amazon for colouring books, on the first page of results you’ll encounter a book with the ‘F word’ prominently featured on the front cover.

Now anyone with any decency would consider it offensive if they were searching with their kids and they came across that, I know I would. But apparently in Amazon world that’s perfectly ok.

Unfortunately that’s the problem with cancel culture, it’s highly selective. It seems it’s perfectly ok to offend certain groups of people but if you offend others you have committed a crime.

Ironically the Nazi’s used to burn books that they didn’t think people should be reading.

Totally agree with the OP. Amazon are not fit to run the platform they have created. Their indifference to the issues raised on these forums on a daily basis is near unbelievable.

Shame on our governments for allowing this industry to continue to be unregulated.
