Amazon tracked postage
Hi
I have a customer saying that an item has not turned up.
I have started to use Amazon tracked postage to get me VTR to 100%
How do I see tracking please. As it was sent via Amazon will they still refund the customer if it says delivered?

Exactly what postage did you buy ?
Screenshot the despatch confirmation box on the bottom of the order

Not actually answering your question, but you do not have to use/pay the extra for tracked service.
If you are using Amazon Buy Shipping all your shipments will be validated for VTR…

Go into the Order and it will show you the tracking number
Probably yes. Amazon usually require a signature, but most couriers just scan on delivery and do not get a signature. Look at how many people are complaining in forums that even though tracking is showing delivered, if customer claims it has not, Amazon take their side and refund at your expense.

Then surely if Amazon considered it delivered then I should keep my item money
And
If Amazon consider that is was not delivered than I should have my delivery refund,

Im not sure why you need to reprint label. Any tracking info is in the Order Details with a link you can click to see if delivered or not. If there is no tracking info, then you used a service with no tracking (or did not upload tracking when marking dispatched, but as you used Buy Shipping that would not apply)
However, it is irrelevant as Amazon will side with customer if they claimed not delivered. Depending on the service used you MAY get compensation from courier (in this case it seems RM) but will have to make any claim from them and not Amazon.
The compensation may be a refund of shipping charge, possibly a refund of value (to you not the selling price) or none at all - it varies between services. I know the CRL service has no compensation. 2nd class parcels used to have a £20 compensation many years ago but may well be different now.

I wish they’d just admit defeat with this whole VTR metric.
They clearly have no idea what they are doing, it is implemented horribly, doesn’t work well with our postal system and is only punishing good sellers and indeed customers who are now paying more for their items than they need to.
I can understand why Amazon have implemented it, but maybe it should be something that only sellers who get a lot of complaints/refunds/returns should be subject to, instead of all of us

It doesn’t help with this order - but in future buy a ‘signed-for’ service from Amazon - it’s the only way that they’ll side with you and not the scammer- sorry, customer - if an INR is claimed and delivery shows a signature. I do this for all orders over £20

We send out low value items - sweets - which typically are under £20. So standard post is fine for us. I would say that 2% of orders results in a customer messaging saying item not been received - we send out perhaps 250 orders a week and get a message a day saying haven’t received the item.
The problem I think is for standard post the royal mail doens’t update amazon when delivery confirmation is received. Ebay does - it shows as delivered. The delivery confirmation code is similar to tracking number and is located on the shipping label above the little square barcode. This delivery code can be put in royal mail track and trace, but only updates once the parcel is delivered. For instance, it doesn’t show when the parcel is dropped off or collected. The tracking details nearly always show exact GPS and map location of delivery.
Of all the people who message claiming not to receive item, nearly all go away never to be heard from again when we send a screenshot of the tracking from royal mail website which has their road shown on it along with time and date - usually a day or two after they order. There was an excellent letter put up on this board a couple of weeks ago which we now use as a template, I’ll copy and paste our standard message to end of this so you can see it in action. You need to be assertive but not accusatory.
You can reprint labels to get the tracking code - but you only have 28 days to do so. So when we print now, we print one to the label printer which obviously gets used, and we ‘print’ one as a PDF which goes in an Amazno file on the computer.
Obviously some parcels do get lost - and if the parcel isn’t delivered that delivery confirmation won’t update on royal mail website - but across all platforms and our own website etc, our loss rate with royal mail is incredibly incredibly small - around 0.2% - around 1 in every 500 parcels. Nearly everything goes standard second class post, and interestingly, for the last two months or so over half of the parcels are being delivered next day using this service.
So our standard reply to INR messages when tracking shows as being delivered:
Morning
We often get these messages on Amazon as the royal mail tracking doesn’t update for some buyers screens in Amazon.
Your parcel was delivered to you by Royal Mail on xxx June. The tracking reference you can put in to Royal Mail website is xxxxxxxx - in case you can’t do it I’ve attached a screenshot of the tracking confirmation from the Royal Mail website. It also has a map and exact GPS co-ordinates of the location, I’ve also attached this too.
If you could check with other residents at your address, and if it’s still not located please let me know and I’ll forward your messages on to Royal Mail who will investigate and question the post man/lady. If you do find it then there is no need to contact me again and I’ll close off the file.
Regards
Andrew

Are royal mail now providing delivery conformations with LL? Seem to be getting them but can’t remember getting it before.
