Being charged for all marketplaces

Hi Guys,

Ive recently made an FBA account. Im waiting for stock to arrive and have not listed any products and therefore not sold anything yet. However today i logged in to find my total balance was -£100. i had been charged by asia and north america marketplace. When i signed up i said i will only be trading in the UK as i am UK based company. I paid the £30 fee for UK marketplace but now im worried over the next couple of days ill be getting charged by every other marketplace! ive sent an email to seller support but not hard anything back yet…

has this happened to anyone else? is there a way to manually remove yourself from the worldwide marketplaces? and also will they remove this balance that i apparently owe them?

thanks in advance.

You have signed up for the Global account. Yes you will be charged by each marketplace each month. And yes they will take what’s showing as owed.

It’s previously been reported that an account cannot be changed once opened - however if you are a brand new seller you may have a chance if you tell them at once. You cannot change the account yourself. Only Amazon can do this for you. . If they do you may be able to ask for a refund iF you have sold nothing at all in the meantime

Yes, we see the same scenario on here time and time again.
As above post - you have signed up to the Global Account.
Unfortunately Amazon’s sign up page can be confusing, and new sellers rush in, don’t read all the small print, and just click on start selling, and then find themselves in a mess because they have not fully understood what they are signing up to.

So you do not pay anymore fees you need to downgrade to the Individual Selling PLAN.
Go to Settings - Account Info - Your Services - Manage- and downgrade.
I assume you will need to do it for each marketplace, but as I only sell in UK I do not know.

I would also suggest that you read Seller University, if you haven’t already, before you go any further.

hi guys just received this from amazon seller support

I understand you have contacted us regarding issues with your global accounts.

Please note that sellers cannot unlink their accounts and this feature has not been supported since December 2019. If you want to maintain separate accounts, you must create a new account using a different email address. You may close any accounts that are no longer needed.

looks like ill have to start the process all over again…
do you think they will chase me for this outstanding money though lol

ok so i have gone onto account settings, and downgraded my account from all marketplaces. (there was an option to downgrade from current marketplace, i dont know which one it was referring to) anyway it now says pending downgrade.
this is what i replied to seller support… waiting for response…

have i done the correct thing or do i just delete the account altogether? i hope this prevents any other marketplaces from billing me as i cant afford to be £300-400 down before ive even sold anything!

how do i go about making a new seller account? do i just make a new email and start again? the company name, bank details etc will all be the same…

thank you

ok thank you i wont open another account
also on the main page it has my company name next to it says UK, however there is a drop down box with loads of others. shall i individually go to each site and downgrade, or the fact ive downgraded all will be ok? but if ive downgraded all how will i be able to even sell in UK? Also how do i pay this money to asia and north america site i think ill just take the £100 hit.

Its just bad timing because i had stock all getting ready this weekend and now i dont even know if i have a platform to sell it on. When i first joined up and paid them the £30 month fee i thought they knew it was going to be UK only.

Also i know this is a different scenario but ive seen a lot of people saying Amazon have deactivated their account for no reason, when this scenario arises and they cant get back in what do they do?

I watched all those tutorials on Youtube aswel before i joined, it seems they dont teach you how to deal with actual issues when on Amazon lol.

So yeah, latest update is im sat here twiddling thumbs thinking what to do next. thanks for the advice guys i appreciate it

Hi everyone! I just want to jump in this issue as I just had mine rectified the other day without downgrading or creating a new account.

Basically if you signed up for professional seller and clicked all the country listed when logging in, you will automatically be a global account. Silly me, thats what I did as the UK/Europe option was taking forever to load (no patience).
Rectifying it is quite long. You will have to switch to the marketplaces that charged you and contact their customer service. In my case, I had to go to US, Japan and Australia marketplace and speak to their customer srevice one by one. Japan was a bit challenging as I had to translate pages into english.
The Europe customer service wont be able to help as they are not the who charged you and can only say downgrade your account but balance will still be there.
Hope helps with anyone in the future!
