Best Day Ever on Amazon - We are Leaving - Thank You Forum Members
After much internal discussion we have decided to wind down selling on Amazon UK and Amazon International after 12 years and will also remove Amazon Pay from our website. We have simply had enough and breaking all association…
Lots of reasons why we have decided to take this step, to a name a few…
- Increased difficulty with listings products.
- Product Compliance Policy. (This has been the worst for us, complete shambles in how this was implemented and how it is managed)
- VTR
- Amazon buy shipping issues linked to Royal Mail extra billing charges.
- Increase in Scammers and fraudulent A to Z claims (No seller protection)
- Terrible Seller Support – Stuck on a roundabout and unable to get anything resolved or fixed, including very simple things like updating someone’s poor product image on a listing for Amazon’s benefit. We don’t even bother contacting them, complete waste of time.
- Increased Costs and Fees.
- Price alert issues
- New returns policy and automatic refunds.
- Significant drop in sales (Caused by increasing our pricing to cover new Amazon Policy’s)
- Crazy Amazon Robots - Removal of products and suppression.
e.g gift wrap tissue paper removed (Stated related to hygiene products)
Stationery Products removed because of a Jewellery Reach certificate
(our inventory has been decimated with this and product compliance)
and the list goes on…
Dealing with Amazon is like dealing with a dictatorship, you are constantly looking over your shoulder, scared to put a foot wrong and it is extremely stressful, we dread opening the emails coming in and wonder what is next. Its just not for us anymore and we are changing direction and focusing on our other sales channels and new opportunities to sell our products.
I wanted to thank all the people that consistently post on these forums and for the advice given over the years, it’s the only place where common sense prevails and this is where the true seller support is. So thank-you for all that you do and taking the time to post on these forums.
A lot of work to wind everything down but we have the champagne on ice ready to open when we remove our last listing, already we feel a huge weight lifted from us and the future looks good.
Thanks again and I wish you all well and every success for the future.

Wishing you all the best.
It is a sad day when established businesses of many years standing take this decision.
ALL Amazon businesses experience, at some time, most of the problems you have highlighted, but some of them are so ridiculous, it is not even worth trying to sort them out - such as your stationery item needing a jewellery Reach certificate !!
I can see even more jumping ship as time goes on, and the fact that so many UK sellers have stopped their overseas sales, must be having a huge impact on Amazon.
Good luck for your future.

Good luck. I long for the day when I don’t need Amazon.
I sometimes fantasise that there will be a management shake-up and they will actually begin employing people who know how to manage a catalogue and build a search engine that actually, you know, searches…
I also live in hope that they will reduce their dependency on bots while improving the quality of their SS staff.
One can dream…

It’s a shame it has come to this…

Hi Paper_Things1
I would just like to congratulate you on making this decision, I just wish i was as brave to leave the shambles that is amazon behind,
We have also been crippled by the policies especially the reach certificate one, even though we do sell body jewellery nobody seems to know what it is that amazon are asking for exactly.
After reading your forum post i have actually decided that our business needs to move as far away as possible from amazon.
Thank you for the inspiration, As for all the posters on the forum i too would like to thank you all for the good advice over our 10 years of business.
I wish you all the best x

I simply have no idea how anybody can possibly defend Amazon any more.

Good luck on moving on, hope it goes well for you, been thinking of doing the same myself, far too stressful on here nowadays, and you forgot to mention Buyers leaving unfair Negative Feedback that Amazon refuses to remove…
All the Best.

I received a policy violation yesterday for listing an out of print item as collectable. Crazy situation. I’m going to concentrate on my website now.

Just wanted to add one more to your list which has been around on the forum for years is when a customer leaves negative feedback on the seller account for an order placed with another seller.
