Collectible Condition E-Mail

We are adding condition guidelines for Collectibles products you sell on Amazon. Assigning the correct condition to each product you list on Amazon is the first step toward providing a great customer experience. It is important to make a careful assessment of your product before specifying its condition.
Items listed as Collectibles must provide added value. For example, they must feature an autograph or be an out-of-print edition. You must provide a detailed description of the collectible aspects of the item to justify listing an item in this category.

OK, so how is this going to be policed? Also, would add that just because a book or an imprint of a book, is out of print, doesn’t necessarily make it collectible?

There are so many books listed as ‘collectible’ that are just bog-standard OP - I’m sure we can all name certain sellers who list almost everything as ‘collectible’ when they are nothing of the sort. But … some books are very collectible for a particular person. We bought at auction a few years back lot of Dr.Syn titles - not just 1 of each edition but multiples of each edition, even of cheap reprints, that someone had collected. And another customer who sought anything to do with the springs of railway carriages. To him they were collectible titles, if not to anyone else. It really is a rather subjective category.
If only Amazon paid more attention to the ridiculously overpriced books listed by such as Mersea & all the new Turkish & Romanian sellers, instead of worrying about minor variations in price, the catalogue would be a lot better. And our lives a lot easier.

Too true. I had this today as well and just smiled given how sellers sometimes opt for collectible just to stop their offering getting bogged down with the plethora of others. Maybe they’ll make collected a gated condition, where you have to apply with eveidence bofore the option is unlocked

I sell collectables vinyl lps from 60s and 70s I guess it becomes a habit and most of my listings are listed as collectables which if I’m honest which I am probably some should not be listed as collectables is there any easy way or change condition to used or do I have to delete and resist each one thanks for your help

I think it is because some sellers, myself included are starting to list as collectable some of the books that Amazon remove using their fair pricing policy. They obviously think it is a loophole they are going to block. I have visions of logging on one morning to find all of my collectables have been removed.

Very many of the books and discs I sell are out-of-print though I wouldn’t have thought that meant they were automatically ‘collectible’.
