Comparing selling on ebay & Amazon

Several sellers on eBay have told me they get a lot of buyers claiming “not received”.
(Especially for low price items, some said, that’s why they charge Signed-for even on low prices).

Anyone here selling the same things on Amazon and ebay, able to compare the pro-rata level of fraudulent buyers they get here, with there?
Different customers, less safe on ebay for sellers?..

I find the opposite I find much more on Amazon claim INR. I have thousands of listing and sales on eBay I’ve had 1 since Christmas with a fraction of the stock and sales on Amazon I’ve had 5 on amazon. Small numbers yes but not when you think I only have just over 100 listing on amazon at moment and over 5000 on eBay.
I’m currently reviewing my amazon stock so took off allot will be back up in numbers soon.

been on here 2 years ebay 5 years and Amazon by far are worse, very little problems on Ebay. Amazon allow scammers with their rules and A - Z and there latest one of emailing customers telling them their order is late and to request a refund even though it has been delivered WITH A COVID SIGNATURE

Ebay listens to sellers Amazon don’t care about sellers

Been on both for 12 years
Amazon is by far the worse for INR and worse still, all items are sent with 2d tracking - on eBay any case is automatically closed in our favour if the tracking shows as delivered and any neg feedback removed
On Amazon, a buyer can win an a-z and leave neg feedback even if you upload a photo of them holding the item and saying ‘yeah I successfully scammed a seller’ !!

Don’t get me wrong there are buyers who try it on, on ebay but as far as my experience its the difference between chalk and cheese. Look through the Amazon forums for the horror stories. Personally we have very little problems on either site possibly due to our order range mainly £5 - £10 but the forums are riddled with Amazon buyers scamming sellers with no help for sellers from Amazon.

Ebay was terrible for buyers being dishonest, I’m saying 3 or more years ago now. Actually all seems to be fine now and I have found that ebay buyers are so much more kind, understanding and honest.

Amazon is full of thieves at the moment and Amazon don’t care as they collect their money from you no matter what.

I literally just had one person claim that the package I sent was empty and no product inside. The proof of postage/tracking slip receipt from the post office shows that the envelope weighed 84 grams. An empty padded envelope with dimentions 12x10x1.6cm does not weight 84 grams. It could be that someone tampered with the package and took the contents. I’ve not said this to the customer. I have only asked if there were any signs at all that the package was opened or tampered with. The angry response was “NO I JUST WANT MY MONEY BACK”. Don’t think so matey. But I know that once the A-Z is opened in a few moments, I will be refunding that so-called customer even though I can prove the envelope wasn’t empty due to the weight confirmation entered by the post office counter worker. I also am not in the habit of sending empty envelopes out!

I completely despise selling on here at the moment. The anxiety levels are rocketing up and everytime I get a message I think oh here we go now what.

I’ve convinced myself just now that its time to turn away from this shark infested platform. Back to ebay I think.

A real biggie in ebay’s favour is that if a buyer claims INR you can invite them to open a case with ebay, because this doesn’t count against a seller the way an A-Z on Amazon does. Most scammers want to keep their heads down so that ebay don’t notice them so the last thing they want to do is open an official case. Makes it a lot easier to sort out any potential scammers. Having said that I find the instances way, way lower on ebay than on Amazon.

Having said all this I prefer Amazon as I make way more sales on here than on ebay even though selling the same stock.

The support you get on eBay is amazing, can’t fault it at all. You speak to a person in your own country, so no issues with language etc. They actually support you, rather than palm you off and ignore you.

Amazon seller support, doesn’t exist. Almost all responses to support tickets are either automated nonense or a completely unrelated reply.

I must admit, my stress levels are vastly increased when I see a message from an Amazon customer pop up on my dashboard vs the ones I get on eBay.

That said, both have their strengths and weaknesses, I prefer Amazons returns procedure vs eBay’s where they automatically grant it and bill you for the label.
