Customers in Germany being charged VAT
Hi
We have had about 14 Amazon customers in Germany being charged VAT on delivery even though we are sending all the correct electronic data including Amazons IOSS number.
These are a just a small amount of the orders going to Germany but still they should not be charged, these are sent via Royal Mail.
Anyone else having this?
Thanks
Andy

What were the order values of these orders? Were they all under or over 150 euro.
Where they business orders?

How did you process the shipments, C&D? We’ve sent a few, no issues yet.

We have had a few issues with C&D, if we send large letter the IOSS logo shows but if we send standard letter it does not show. We have had only about 10 orders so far and no customer complaints … YET

We have had loads, we use a third party software company for our dispatch and it’s all done with Royal Mail and Intersoft via an API, the only thing we have at the moment, is an issue with IOSS being printed on any labels, so we manually write them on and have still had a load of customers being charged customs and tax.
We can’t cover the cost as we would be at a loss and it’s not meant to happen when with the IOSS and under 150 euro, which all of our parcels are well under.
It’s ridiculous, our metrics are going rapidly down and Amazon have not sorted this and are refusing to take feedback off. It’s really stressful.

I agree, it’s a bit of a mess for sure.
I have spent hours on chat, emails, phone calls and opened cases, some of which I am waiting on replies about the customers being charged duties.
We have had a good few negatives and our % for feedback and the overall Order defect rate is in the danger zone and we have traded for years and never had this happen.
I am just hoping that Amazon post something about it not being counted against us all as it’s beyond a joke.
I have even sent links from the official EU website stating no fees should be charged on low value items under 150 euro and they still aren’t taking it in. I just get told to reply to the customer feedback!

This is the problem with the API there’s no way to confirm the iOSS number has passed because the iOSS logo only seems to show for click and drop and not on the API labels
I told my account manager about this and there’s no way to confirm it
So far I haven’t had any issues and have sent thousands to EU

We only get CN23 regardless of order value too, it seems to be an issue with the API we use a custom cn22 instead
Seller_Mrso42lCWrN3m
We argued with our third party software back in Jan about the CN23 and were told that it caused no issues using this. But now that July has changed everything, your right, it shouldn’t be used.
Nathan do you manually enter all of your info onto a CN22 instead? I was under the impression it had to be printed mostly.

We too have had issues with shipping to Germany and customers being asked to pay duties.
We used DPD through Parcel2go and for IOSS orders and the majority have customers have being asked to pay extra. Each time we have had to contact DPD and then all of sudden tracking indicates ‘Duty Paid’
We have had other orders over the threshold and we have paid duties before shipping and these have flown through in a couple of days.
It may be an issue with the couriers using the incorrect incoterm codes. These are so important and when checking one label/invoice sent to the customer it was down as DAP (delivered at place) and this is why the customer will have being asked for payment before releasing the item.
We are now trying Royal Mail and hoping this works out better

Yes seems like customs over there are trying it on. We use DPD and I have changed the contact e mail to me (so I get the e mails requesting the VAT payment) and they request it and within a few days it says cleared
