Do Amazon Boost New Sellers?
Wonder if anyone had experience of or new if Amazon give new sellers a boost. Reason being we have been losing the buy box to a relatively new seller that has appeared on a large number of our ASIN’s. They have worse feedback than us and even if I price myself 15% below them we are still not winning the Buy Box. Its not just us either, most of the these products have around 5 or 6 competitors but every time I check it is always the same newbie whereas Amazon seemed to spread the sales around before hand.
It has been like this now for about a month and is starting to seriously impact sales, we had products that would be selling 3 or 4 units a day down to 1 per week at best. If Amazon are just giving this new company a boost to ‘hook them in’ I hope it ends soon. If we cant beat them by having near perfect metrics, better feedback and a cheaper price then I do not know what to do next

I think you might be right, I have noticed similar apparent boosts in the past.

Are they FBA and are you FBM? FBA always takes priority

There were lots of reports on the forum from sellers complaining about their listing position dropping in the search results or having the BuyBox lost against newly-registered sellers.
I believe that Amazon recently updated their algorithm to start displaying different results to each buyer based on multiple factors such as their location, purchase history or browser, so you seeing poor results doesn’t necessarily have to mean that this is what your buyers see as well.
It doesn’t need to have anything to do with someone being a new seller.

Yes they do. Can’t remember where I read it now but possibly on the US forum.
It’s to get new sellers hooked into thinking they are going to have a good business, but then after about a year they drop you like a hot brick. I saw this in my own business when I open my .com account.
My sales were going through the roof and on the back of that ordered a ton of stock in time for peak season. Suddenly, after exactly a year and for no reason, my sales completely nose-dived and they’ve never been the same since. The strange thing is I was just entering peak season for that item, so sales should have been going up, not sharply down.
