Emails to customers requesting product review

Hi,

I’m a new seller using FBA for all my orders. I have launched my first product with an aim to provide the best customer experience possible and to do so I have been sending 2 emails to customers via the order page as follows:

Email 1 sent when order is expedited:
Thanking customer for their order and advising it has been dispatched. I also provide some relevant product instructions. Suggesting if they like the product to kindly leave a review on amazon, if they have an issue to reply and let me know so that I can fix it.

Email 2 sent 7 days after
Saying I hope you enjoyed using the product, and asking if they would leave a product review providing a link to the product review page. Thanking them once again for choosing our brand and suggesting they contact me if they have any issue at all with the product.

After selling 1410 units over 8 months, this method has resulted in 4.6 stars - a total of:
133 feedback ratings (9.5% feedback rate)
77 product reviews (5.5% review rate)

Would any experienced seller be able to tell me if my approach is outdated, or if I run the risk of account deactivation for the above practices and should I stop doing it?

Thank you for your time.

Email 1 is unnecessary as Amazon will send a “despatched” message to the buyer. Also you cannot ask for just positive reviews, which you are doing if say “if you like the product”, so that’s out. Why don’t you include the product instructions with the product?- much simpler and no risk of getting lost or deleted in e-mail inboxes

Email 2 is likely to annoy the customer (many now get fed up being constantly asked to rate everything they do online) and is against the rules - you are only supposed to contact customers about delivery etc or problems that they report to you (returns, refunds etc). You are also only allowed to ask once for reviews or feedback

So, Yes, you are risking your account health and probably not keeping your customers any happier

Do you use the “request review” button on the order page or do you send them a custom message?

Hey thanks to all for taking the time to provide me your valuable insights, much appreciated.
I’ve been following a methodology taught to me which has been working so far, but we are operating in an ever evolving space so I think I will stop sending these messages now to be on the safe side.

Requests for reviews drive me mental.
I should say that we do get an awful lot more than most due to the sheer amount we buy based the different businesses we run. However, everyone I know gets inundated even with a “normal” level of household purchases.

They’re not received well and if a follow up comes through then the review isn’t what you’d want to see

Many won’t like that POV but many people / customers also see it that way and the tide is turning (if it hasn’t already) for “review me” sellers.
