Germany Custom Charges?
One of my German customers has been charged with Customs fees. The parcel had CN22 label and an IOSS sign. Dispatched with Royal Mail.
Attached is the image customer sent.
Any ideas why he might get this charge?
Should I just pay the cost and close the case or should he go and find out why he received this charge?

The customer has been charged Auslagenpauschale, which (according to Amazon) you ought to be paying on the customer’s behalf.

Did it have the IOSS logo on the label, as it’s been blocked out in the image.

We’ve had a parcel returned from Germany because of a customs charge German Post have had slapped on, so the customer didn’t collect it.
The parcel was sent IOSS and had the IOSS logo on it, clearly displayed.
I contacted the customs office in Bonn asking why they charged import duties and they replied that it was German Post that told them too as they said it didn’t qualify as an IOSS order.
I have also contacted Click & Drop with this issue, asking them to check the label to see if all the required information is on the labels they are producing.
Has anyone else had any IOSS order incorrectly charged with customs duties from Germany?

I cannot see the customs declaration CN22 on the image supplied.
There is no commodity code, retail cost, product description, tax code etc.

I’ve just been speaking to our Royal Mail account manager about German IOSS shipments being charged to try and understand the issue. There seems to have been an increase since January 2022 maybe now 1 in 50 having a problem. There were issues with Republic of Ireland making up their own rules a while back could be something similar, or could be something has changed for example customs codes. Still looking into it…
