Help, Not sold a single item since i started
Hi All,
I started my business just after Christmas (just over a month ago) I realise this was a bit of a mistake as im sure January is pretty slow for the best of you out there. I am selling filled gift boxes so they are my own listings.
I wanted to know if this is completely normal and i just have to stick it out or cut my losses and move on.
I have added some ASIN’S below - If anyone has the time, could you please give me some feedback.

Your items look really cute, but I have checked the category in which you are selling and there are thousands of different gift sets like what you sell available on Amazon.
It took me 3 months to sell a first item after I started selling. So I would advise you to wait or promote your items on social media.

Thank you, I know there are a lot out there. I’m using Twitter to help with sales to my own site but still nothing doing there either. I had heard about how long it can take but couldn’t seem to find anyone with the same problem on these forums.
Thanks again

Have you added lots of keywords to your listings. The titles are quite basic, you need to think about what people would search to look for your items. I can’t see many people typing in “surprise scarf box”, not that there is anything wrong with the product.
Do you sell on eBay? If not, it may be worth starting there and working your way up. If you do sell on eBay, I’d try and entice potential buyers to purchase from you on Amazon instead, then politely request if they could leave reviews.

Hi, Yes i have added keywords to all items. such as ‘filled gift boxes’ ‘aunties birthday’ etc I have been trying lots of different key words on all products. I have also listed on e-bay and although i’m getting a few views, still no bites. I have just altered the prices on a few of them to see if that helps. Do you think the prices are too high for what it is?
Thanks again - really chuffed with all the help
Thank you all for taking the time xx

Re the scarfs, personally I would not be happy buying blind - but I suppose there are some indecisive people out there. Re the New Baby set - I would have thought there would be a good market for that - but there is so much stuff out there that by searching for new Baby I didn’t find your item. Probably wouldn’t help much with the search - but might be more appropriate to list it under ‘Baby’ rather than clothing.

Thank you, You are probably right about the scarves. Thought i would try it though as i have so many variants and not enough barcodes to go round at the moment. I am in the situation where i don’t want to spend what little money i have left and end up in real trouble. I will have a look at the baby stuff, i thought i had listed them correctly. Thanks for spotting that.

FBA is the only way if you want growth as a new seller.

To a great extent you can expect a slow start with new items. As they start to sell your item will start to get ranked, moving it up the catalogue. Being a little patient is perhaps necessary here.
Making good listings with lots of info and key words will always help. Perhaps sell a few a little cheaper to start the ball rolling but just don’t forget to increase your price as you sell. Having a Facebook page with links might also help. Anything and everything you can think of will help. Spending on ads is likely to make you out of pocket but perhaps for the future its an option or as a one-off exercise to do an ad maybe.
Your items are nice and in my opinion really cheap - there is always competition prepared to sell their stuff for twopence but in my opinion you don’t need to sell yourself short… especially as your listings are yours and as you appear to be a brand will remain that way.
I don’t feel FBA is the only way but having some in FBA would definitely help get you rolling.
Good luck for the future - which I’m sure will be bright a few months from now.

Thank you, and apologies for the late reply. I think you make a lot of sense. This is really useful. I’m reluctant to go down the FBA route as i want control over how my customers are treated and although it is convenient, I have seen and read a lot of problems caused by FBA on here and in my previous job. Customer service is of the up-most importance to me and i would hate a faulty item to be sent out by people who don’t care about my brand as much as i do. I do appreciate that people trust prime (i’m one of them) . Thanks again

Hi Tanya,
I checked out your listings and one of the reasons people may be reluctant to buy from you is that you currently have no seller feedback which definitely makes a difference.
The best thing to do is work on getting that and bear in mind that almost no one leaves seller feedback on Amazon - I’m tracking at about 5% of my customers leaving feedback
I got more feedback when I included personalised letters to my customers asking politely for them to leave feedback (not positive feedback mind, as you’re not allowed to ask for that).
Equally, as someone else mentioned, think outside the box with keywords, remember you don’t need to use characters with joining words or doubling up words like ‘and’, ‘or’, ‘bedrooms’ and ‘bedroom’ for example). Think about obvious typos that people might make when looking for your products, for example babys instead of babies, grl instead of girl etc.
I’ve found Facebook to be a good platform for sales without having to spend any money, especially if your friends get behind sharing your posts.
You mentioned not wanting to buy any more barcodes, where are you getting yours from? I paid about £25 for 2,000 so if you’re spending more than that you can get them cheaper elsewhere.
Hope some of this helps.
Kind regards,
Jo
