Help with customer reviews

I am getting very confused with customer reviews/product review/customer feedback!
As per usual with me and Amazon I am going round and round in circles trying to find info in the help pages.
I have some unfair customer reviews - the ones that appear on the selling page at the bottom with the s.
I have a FBA product that has some 1
reviews which are unfair IMO. Bascially we are selling 5 small packs of low carb bread, we have pictures of exactly what they are getting, a very clear writeup of what they are getting. Rating are 50/50 roughly between 1* or 5*. Those that read the listing a look at the pictures get it and are happy. Those that don’t feel they have not got good value so respond with 1* review.
I think this is wrong, a customer doesnt have to buy if they feel it is too expensive. They should look at the info provided and not be able to leave incorrect feedback if they didnt read the listing.
I am sure there is a help page that talks about customer reviews but I cannot find it. I want to carefully read the info regarding getting these reviews removed.
Any thoughts, advise, experience?
Thanks, Billy.

If you type Customer Reviews under the Help bar you will get all the information required.
However, you cannot get it removed if you feel it’s unfair. Make sure your key points are highlighted.

Doesn’t mean that once they receive it that it isn’t good value for money. If you’re having several of these, I think you need to take it into consideration… I’ve spent plenty of money on things I thought were good quality on the listing, but you get them and they’re absolute dog poo & not value for money. It is not a case of being stingy when purchasing.

My opinion would be to take it into consideration and see how you can improve.

Well, the customer doesn’t, and it is their honest opinion at the end of the day which is what the review is for. I think trying to remove them is biased and wrong, IMO.

Sadly, Amazon removed the right to reply to product reviews for merchants. On numerous occasions we have felt our product reviews are unjust, bordering on libellous. There used to be an option to respond. This option to respond was removed by Amazon. Amazon advised me it was because it was not a popular tool. Frankly, I find that hard to believe. It has extinguished a seller’s opportunity to publish their point of view. It’s a terrible shame and I wish Amazon would reinstate the tool.

Interestingly, we once had a rather foul mouthed customer feedback focussing on one of our our FBA products We felt it was unjustified. In fact, we held the review of the contents the customer received to be false. We knew exactly what we sent (we weigh our products and have sound quality controls in place). The buyer falsely recounted what they received. We politely contacted them and offered a refund. They refused and said they had to use the product. They seemed happy enough. We asked Amazon to remove the damning feedback. This must have rattled the buyer. As a result, they wrote an extensive damning product review. Again, I know the review contained falsity. There was nothing we could do about it. We even asked Amazon to open any of our consignment at FBA as we knew our product contents were uniform. Amazon refused to help, refused to remove a product review that described our product as ‘crappy’ - a word that is vulgar slang and offensive to many. Reviews and Feedback can cause pain at times. I’ve become more and more unmoved by the odd scathing attack as we have confidence in our products. If the the consensus of opinion is largely positive merchants should take a deep breath, ignore the odd criticism if it isn’t valid and carry on.

It would benefit you to heed the feedback from your customers. As others have alluded, it’s what your customers perceives, not yourself that counts.

I think selling a small bundle size you’re always going to struggle with customers feeling like they are getting bad value. I would personally make the bundle size larger so you can spread the delivery cost over more units and offer better value. This would mean a heavier product that may be more suited for FBM rather then FBA.

Just to add on what I said. You could make the listing a variation with different pack sizes. You could offer one variation listing with 1 slice pack that was sent via S&L keeping the costs down and this would allow the customer to sample the product. For your repeat customers you could offer larger pack sizes to offer value and keep them coming back.

We have noticed on Amazon they have started removing 5 star reviews from product our listing. We have been monitoring this for some time. We listed our product around 10 years ago and reached 71% 5 star reviews today we look and its 64% 5 star. 7% has been removed. The question is why are they removing 5 star reviews? Its taken us 10 years to get 675 reviews and yet our competitors product similar product has over 1175 reviews in just 5 years.
