Ireland is the new Italy...?

So, here we go. Up to 2 days ago I’ve had zero issues with IOSS etc. Then I get 4 negs in a row, all for Ireland orders that haven’t yet arrived, based on the EDD.

Then today I get my first parcel back (from Ireland) with the dreaded label “Rejected/Failed electronic customs clearance”. So I assume the others may also be a victim of this AN Post error.

I know my customs data/C&D setup etc is fine as we send 100’s to Germany/Austria/France etc and have had zero issues.

If I didn’t know better, one might think the Irish are being deliberately awkward due to the whole brexit/NI/Rep IRL situation.

What dates were they sent? Ours have been fine since about 1st October

Maybe they’ve changed what can and can’t be sent again.

Because we had same issue as you august-October, seems like our type of items are ok now and perhaps what you sell they have added to list of items that can’t be sent?

Yep, a bit of confusion (well, for me anyway) that the standardised codes (HS) are not standard at all. For some codes, each country (that selected to do so) has added its own ‘sub’ code on to the end. So you get 8 to 10 digit codes depending on if you are exporting or importing.

https://www.tariffnumber.com/info/combined-nomenclature

For prints, the standard is 9702.00.00. In Ireland, that needs to be 9702.0000.90 (as far as I can tell). So they’ve been lazy arsed and just auto returned everything that wasn’t 100% perfectly filled in. Especially annoying when the handwritten Parcelforce custom forms have barely room for 4 digits.

I have reluctantly excluded Ireland from countries I will ship to- until things are resolved.
Daily I am having to refund due to non- delivery.

Received this from DHL a few weeks back - quite unusual to single one country out but there you go!

IOSS for Globalmail in Ireland

Whilst the IOSS process is working fine for some customers, there have also been examples of the process not working, resulting in VAT being charged to the recipient, in addition to a Customs Admin Fee of €3.50. An Post, the Irish Postal authority, are currently working with the Irish Customs authority to resolve these issues but there is currently no firm date when a solution will be in place. Please note this issue is affecting all postal imports, not just those of Deutsche Post.

Given the above, at this time we cannot provide any assurances that the IOSS process will work correctly for all items sent to Ireland. Therefore, you will need to decide whether or not to continue sending DHL Globalmail items to Ireland under the IOSS scheme. If you do decide to continue, please ensure a 10 digit HS code is provided and that you do not send items which might be considered prohibited or restricted goods by the Customs authority in Ireland.

Just received four Royal Mail shipments to Ireland, all marked “Rejected/Failed electronic customs clearance”.

We send all over the world, no other country is giving us problems on the same scale.

Of course, the customers think we are just scammers when they don’t get their orders.

yep, we are removing the option to Ireland, not worth the hassle for the 4% of sales that cause 50%+ of negs

When I was discussing IOSS with my RM Acc Manager he highlighted to me that RM were having problems with Ireland & customs codes. Mail was being returned yet RM considered it was presented correctly!! Personally 99% of my mail gets through just the odd LIP.
