Item not received
Buyer: my item hasn’t arrived
Me: possible delay due to bank holiday, please wait until end of week
Buyer: (two days later) where is my item, I really want it, can I have a replacement
Me: please wait until end of week, if not arrived I will replace
Buyer: (at end of week) it hasn’t arrived, I want a refund
Can anyone else smell fish or is it just me?

Sounds perfectly reasonable. Buyer hasn’t received item so they’ve followed it up with you twice now with requests for a reasonable resolution. Do you have tracking for the item?

Yes I do smell fish! The bank holiday was yesterday, not last week, so it’s irrelevant.

If you can’t replace the item & you can’t prove it was delivered then you don’t have much choice other than to refund. If the postage was paid for via Royal Mail ( ie. not via a 3rd party that uses Royal mail to deliver on their behalf) then you can put a claim in after 10 working days but, depending on value of the item, this might not cover the full cost as RM have a ceiling on refunds for standard mail. If this is a big deal then maybe you need to rethink your criteria for sending items signed for (or increase prices for harder to find items to cover recorded delivery charges). Sometimes all we can do is learn from it and stop ourselves getting burned in the future

I have a major problem with all my Royal Mail deliveries that went out on 7th May all the 24 Tracked deliveries. None of the customers have received their deliveries and there are too many of them for it to be somebody trying to get a freebie.
I have checked the tracking and they all say the same delivery attempted and awaiting collection. None of these customers have received a card and no deliveries have been attempted at all. I have a flurry of messages about it coming in constantly all day and all the same problem.
Royal Mail as usual are as helpful as a chocolate fireguard. Nothing is ever their fault.
