Keyword Sabotage
My ‘best seller’ listing was taken down on Friday. I eventually found out that it was due to concerns about the contents being on the DEA list of drugs of concern.
There were 3 different drugs mentioned which have nothing to do with my product.
I chased up a response this morning having had to close my listing and raise an appeal.
I received an email this afternoon saying that it relates to the info on my ASIN in the Canadian marketplace. I only sell in the UK and am only registered in Europe!
Further research tells me that there are some nasty competitors out there who are somehow listing other people’s products in other marketplaces with keywords that they know Amazon bots will pick up on leading to listings being taken down.
I found a whole thread on the Amazon.com forum relating to this - it seems to be happening to a number of sellers.
Has anyone else encountered this? It is costing me a fortune in lost revenue and there is seemingly nothing I can do about it except wait for seller support to provide me with further instructions. I can’t change the description of my product in another market place if I don’t sell there so I’m completely in Amazon’s hands on this at the moment.
This is what I received earlier and I have since had a chat with seller support who said they’d get back to me soon. I’d be interested to hear if anyone else is in the same boat or has overcome this issue - I’m totally frustrated and upset that another seller is able to do this
We have reviewed your listing for ASIN … and have determined that the ASIN will not be reinstated.
Thanks for the attachments,
As per the review procedure the product is shared between US, UK and CA MPs and when we are review the product in US and CA MPs
Kindly note that there is a Mismatch between the product title and bullet points, the CA MP title (which I found out means Canadian marketplace) states about “Hemp Oil”
whereas the bullet point and product description states for “4baton shampoo drugs CBD Water cannabis mdma lsd FDA approved Hemp tetrahydrocannabinol THC cannabis Sativa strain Coca Leaves Hallucinogenic mushrooms Poppy pods, poppy straw, Ephedrine Phenylpropanalomine Pseudoephedrine Ergotamine Jimson Weed Kratom Salvia”
Which is contradictory information, Multiple appeal does not make product compliant.
Please make necessary changes in the CA MP and reach us out through the new case.
Hence, the ASIN cannot be reinstated.

You can’t sell Hemp oil or CBD. It has nothing to do with keyword sabotage, its the product you are selling. If you have other accounts then the approval process is different for each individual country.
If you see other sellers selling Hemp oil and CBD products then they are older sellers, where those types of products were allowed to be sold during that time. Currently its not allowed.

I don’t know whether you’ve posted about this on reddit, but i’ve seen a few posts recently with that exact issue.

I keep receiving the same response that I need to amend the detail on the Canadian marketplace. I can’t amend something I didn’t create in a marketplace I haven’t even registered to sell in!
Someone please help / advise - I am out of ideas.
Other than keep reiterating the same info and reopening the case, I don’t know what else to do.

10 days now, 6 or so days of receiving the same generic replies about amending the listing in the regions I don’t even have access to. Finally spoke with someone on Friday who was aware of the issue and had dealt with it for other sellers, still no positive resolution and have been told a few times since Friday that it’s high priority and it’s been escalated as a priority with the internal team.
Still nothing, just silence and the same response every time I call seller support.
Anyone else been through this? Anyone have any hints or tips as I’m at my wits end now and my business is suffering badly for something someone else has done deliberately to sabotage my ASIN?

Hello,
I’m having exactly the same problem! Clearly someone is destroying me. Just wondering if you managed to work it out?
Amazon is not doing anything at all, keep getting the same automatic reply and it’s really worrying.
Would really appreciate if you could share your experience.
Thank you

Hi,
In the end, having gone round in circles for a couple of weeks, I signed up for a .com seller account so that I could contact the US support team.
They were very quickly able to identify the issue and confirm that it was a third party - it still took another 5 days or so but I woke up one morning to find that the policy violation had been removed from my account and I was able to relist the product.
I am retaining the US account as a sort of insurance policy!
If I can help any further, feel free to message me as I know how frustrating this situation is.

I’ve just had exactly the same issue with a Candadian listing and my product is cotton make up pads. The person has added in Canda that it has all sorts of drugs in it which is ridiculous. I can’t amend it either as no registered over there.

Sounds like competitor sabotage. Something that Amazon seller support doesn’t even remotely understand.
