Legal Entity Change
Hello,
So I had been researching changing a legal entity (Sole trader to LTD company) on this forum and there are lots of posts about issues ranging from weeks to months.
I wanted to share the steps I took for it to be approved and setup without any issues and fairly quickly.
Step1. Email apuk-seller-verification-enquiry@amazon.co.uk ahead of time (Approval only lasts 28 days to take that into account). This took only 5 working days to get a response but will differ.
They will require the following details:
- The reason for changing the business registered on your Selling on Amazon account.
- The relationship between your current business and the new business you want to register.
- The name, including legal entity, of the new business you want to register. Examples of legal entities are sole proprietorship, limited company, and non-profit organization.
- Confirm if your current business will continue to exist.
- Confirm all the beneficial owners of your current business. A beneficial owner is a natural person who directly or indirectly owns 25% or more of the shares or voting rights in your business.
- Confirm the country of establishment of the new business.
- Confirm the all beneficial owners of the new business.
Step2. Either they will approve or disapprove the change. In my case it was approved, they will then ask you to do 2 things:
- Proceed with the disbursement of the pending funds linked to the account as a result of your selling activity on Amazon ( This is lacking a lot of detail and support aren’t aware of what happens to rany reserved funds)
- Do not modify the email address the account is currently linked to throughout the process.
Step3. Transfer account to new legal entity
- Go to the ‘Settings’ section of Seller Central.
https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/gp/on-board/configuration/index.html - Click ‘Transfer Account’ in the ‘Business Information’ section.
- Follow the steps of the automated transfer process.
Now in step 2 after the change was approved. I wanted to make sure any reserved funds are kept and not lost which some people have raised issues with in this forum. Seller support were not aware despite who I spoke to and this was a few hours of frustration. What I did in the end was request an immediate disbursement of what was available, then wait an hour to show it has been taken from our account. Then I went and transferred the account and any reserved funds were kept within the new account.
The new business information, which was submitted after the transfer was complete, was verified instantly and the new account was ready to go.
A lot easier and quicker than expected. Hopefully you have the same experience !

Hello Sellers,
I am also trying to change my legal entity from sole trader to limited company. The steps are really confusing. I attach a photo. So it comes 3 blue ticks by default and it has my old information, it is all gray, I can not edit it, so should i click continue? I think i should write my new limited company info and then click continue?? Anyone did this before? Many thanks for the advice.

Hi there, thanks for posting the details,
Would like to know when you said you submitted documents for approval in advance , does that means that you has emailed verification department with all required documents and asked them to approve it.
And after submitting to transfer ,how long did it took to complete the process ,and while in transit process was your account suspended anytime.
Thanks in advance.
