My Best Day on Amazon for a Few Years - I've been saving the Champagne
After 11 Years on Amazon we had some good times in the early years.
After the last few years of endless pressure by amazon and it’s automated emails (and staff), even for the most important of issues, I am very relieved and happy to be closing our account today. At 11 years old with top performance in nearly all areas, 4.9 Feedback rating (0 x negative feedback and 1 neutral!)
I am now free of
- Asking me to spend hours updating listings, with no effect.
- Amazon being able to track my best selling products and them selling via the Click to “Buy Box”, whether cheaper of not.
- Promoting Amazon’s own listings as “Recommended by Amazon” above everyone else’s
- Listing ASINs on a page full of paid advertising
- Paying full Corporation tax when Amazon gets a way with minimal tax
- Automatically pricing competitors against each other
- Worrying about suspending my account for tiny mistakes. (when a system marks a few orders as sent a day late)
- Banning legitimate UK branded products due to a very few complaints about unsubstantiated fake claims. With all the documentation and invoices in the world, an invoice 1 day over 365 days is not accepted as proof of a legitimate product!)
- Customer returns due to Amazon incorrectly changing ASIN Titles, descriptions and images after us selling against a product for months.
- Spending hours providing Amazon with endless documents and stress to continue selling.
- Paying charges for product returns
- Pushing me to sell via FBA, by listing FBA products above all others
- Taking days or even weeks to get a reply, and receiving a template email!
- Threatening emails like: " FBA inventory of the item that caused “inauthentic” complaints may be destroyed at your expense. "
Just imagine if you had access to all your competitors sales, profits and lists of your top selling products. You also had access to large sums of money, free sponsored listings, buy boxes even when you price higher and free FBA. You can also set “Amazon recommended” on your own products, you also only need to pay a tiny amount of tax compared to all the small guys!
I would like to thank Amazon for enabling me to try an alternative with little hassle, Ebay.
Bye!

The swing and the roundabout. Each platform has its’ positives and its’ negatives, as you will no doubt discover, in time. Not everything that is shiny turns out to be gold but good luck in your future endeavours.

Spot on message, the stress that Amazon causes just isn’t worth the effort, EVERYONE is one click away from suspension for possibly months on end, no access to funds or a human to talk to (or one that can action anything) not forgetting the A-Z claim that always favour the customer, Amazon is a basket case for sellers, something I always tell other potential sellers to avoid and one where I now only sell barely 7% of my total sales and that will fall until I leave this cesspit in the early NY

Thanks for comprehensively listing Amazon’s faults. It is absolutely outrageous that Amazon has the right to demand that sellers provide them with the name and address of suppliers -i mean REALLY!
Good luck to you in the future on ebay

OP: Best of luck for the future.
For me personally, all the hours of work i put in the Amazon i feel I’m working to promote Amazon, while all the work I put in to Ebay I feel I’m promoting my own brand and company.

Good Luck , I am now 14 and a half years on Amazon and also cannot take anymore - titles changing - listings mysteriously changing and stock being damaged in fba or not being checked by staff when returned to ensure complete?! I now have 200 poppies stuck in fba as listing has been removed due to brand being changed incorrectly by a seller on on amazon and despite paperwork and invoices showing the brand owner as lotus imports - just had to remove the inventory as listings have dissapeared even though we have been selling the poppies and are an authorised reseller of the product. amazon state other sellers cannot change listings - YEAH RIGHT.
I have also found the customer on amazon way more fraudulent than on ebay - so yes I have been ramping ebay up lately and have just purchased templates for new look in the new year for ebay shop.
Amazon keep putting so much pressure on some sellers and getting a point across to the bots is just impossible. Good Luck and I am sure in a few years time - Amazon will be littered with chinese sellers only.

16 years on eBay.
Sick of the downward trend in sales year on year, I moved most things to Amazon.

Not sure I agree with:
*Paying full Corporation tax when Amazon gets a way with minimal tax | That is your choice, you can find ways to reduce your tax in the same way they do.
*Automatically pricing competitors against each other | this is market forces, you put the price you are happy with. If other sellers are too cheap they will sell through quickly and you will get better prices
*Pushing me to sell via FBA, by listing FBA products above all others | That is your choice, the same as selling using SFP or using Amazon shipping, I choose not too. Products are listed according to price, including P&P, except that Amazon do not show a delivery cost for their items
Good luck with eBay, but it is just another market place
