Myhermes - 29th 30th 31st all parcel barcodes have incorrect depots

Not sure if everyone has had the call from hermes today but every label booked on 29th 30th 31st of may have a barcode label issue where the wrong depots have been selected for their labels. For example parcels going to london have belfast depots on the top right of each label. So the parcel will be shipped automatically to belfast when they scan the label, they then are realising and relabelling and moving on once it arrives in completely the wrong depot. This is causing massive delays (they say 48hours) . One can only wonder how many 100, 000 s of parcels need re-labelling?

They even cancelled our pick up at 5pm and then told us they want us to rebook every single parcel currently not in the network?

hi, yes this is correct, all labels from 10am on 29th, 30th,31st and 1st, have the incorrect depot coded into barcode, meaning a parcel for London, will end up at the Edinburgh depot, a MAJOR SCREW-UP, to make matters worse, Hermes informed sellers to late, so sales over the weekend, were most probably already collected on Monday .

Many seller will be affected by this, and even though Hermes claim it will take upto 7 days, you can easily double that.

They were trying to fix something else and this was the byproduct… then they wanted us to do all the work to fix it with limited support from them. 400 units on the forecourt last night at 5pm and then I get a call explaining I had to manually re-label them all and then un pack and reapply for today although this will limit I hope my exposure to multiple mislabelled units. I hope your items weren’t too heavy on the error side

Does this apply only to labels booked on the Hermes site? I use Parcel2Go, so would I be affected as well?

We have had a nightmare in the last week we have had next day service parcels posted on Wednesday 27th May and still NOT arrived. They seem to do whatever they like and their customer service is a joke - they don’t record complaints and no compensation for late parcels so we will be using another courier from now on

So I received my first ‘Why have you sent me something I didn’t order’ message.

I’m waiting on Hermes to confirm how they will rectify this. They don’t seem to know what to do.

Original barcodes not valid.
The new barcode I can find by searching via Postcode on Hermes.
But the new barcode and the recipient address aren’t correctly matched anyway.

Mother of all F’ups.

Lucky for me only around 10 parcels where affected by all this, it is still a pain though. Im glad I was able to add order details on every parcel so can be easily tracked, incase an issue like this occurred. So I have had the task of emailing out to every customer, that was fun.

You say re-labeled, I had a customer come back to me this evening with a picture of a parcel and on it showed a different customers address clearly labelled by myself. Myhermes had simply put a line through it with a hand written address completely different (and wrong) on top. I have no idea there logic behind trying to rectify this issue, by guessing address doesn’t seem quite right to me!

I think it is time to look at different couriers as I am fed up with them making mistakes which should never happen.

Apparently they eventually quarantined over 200,000 and have sent them all to a new temporary warehouse to be re labelled. They quote a 7 day delay depending on when yours or mine are eventually relabelled. Looking at some of the replies it looks like some have already been relabelled and fears of even more cock ups are being realised.
This weekend could be an interesting ones as parcels arrive with customers or not.

An update of sorts???

I have 10 parcels caught up in this fiasco and today I woke up to 10 emails…all addressed to the RECIPENT …i.e Dear Mr Bloggs (the recipient)….We have just received your parcel and it will soon be on its way to you…We will advise you soon when to expect delivery ….

Many concerns… firstly why are the emailing me (the sender) and not the recipients? Secondly why state they have JUST received the parcel when in actual fact they have had it over a week? (Shifting the blame??) and thirdly where are they delivering them to? (given they can’t even send the email to the right address let alone the parcels?)

Expected delivery dates are starting to pass now and customers are contacting either wanting refunds or replacements, has anyone heard from Hermes regarding claims and where we stand with this?
