Profit/Price/Decution/Estimated Fee Per unit sold

Is there any hidden cost I need to know before putting the product for selling.

I assume

  1. There is “Estimated fee per unit sold” which will be deducted
  2. The postage ( delivery cost)

If I am selling a box of 12 units in it for 23.99.
The Estimated fee per unit sold 3.47.
Delivery charges ( FBM) is 7

So I should receive (23.99-3.47-7) = 13.52.

Any other cost/charges like VAT or duty fee ???

I will appreciate your help.

Thank you very much

have you tried the fee calculator?

Vat is only payable by you on your sales if you are vat registered, but don’t forget to add vat onto the fees.

Duty and VAT would be an issue if you export, where you will have to send it duty paid so you will have to account for the duty for each country in your selling or postage price.

If you aren’t on the professional plan (£25+vat a month) then you will have to pay another 75p (plus vat) on each item sold.

I’m guessing by your name that you won’t be selling books/cds etc, so shouldn’t have to worry about the additional closing fee for those categories.

There will be 20% VAT on amazon fees if you are not uk vat registered

Duty would depend on where you are posting to and from

Uk to UK ?

If not, have you checked for any restrictions of importing / exporting fresh foods

Where did you get 3.47 fees from? Most categories have a 15.3% referral fee which would be £3.67

You mention later on that you are VAT registered (I think) so you also owe £4.00 VAT to HMRC (if you are on normal VAT accounting not flat rate).

That is bit confusing. I need to pay HMRC too out of it??

There’s also the hidden fees and the fraud. You will get claims of non-receipt and late delivery, Amazon will gleefully refund people your money on a whim. Then there are returns that are high on this platform. There’s also the time cost of all the jumping through hoops you have to do, constant demands for documents that don’t exist, account freezes, suspended listings, etc. There’s zero effective customer service for sellers. Withdraw your money daily so they never have too much to freeze.

Reckon on 20% off the top as a minimum to include fees, refunds, fraud, planet Amazon silliness, etc. Perhaps as much as 25% depending on what you are selling.
