Refund Request for FBM
Hello everyone,
I sell greeting cards and purchase shipment labels through Amazon buy shipping. All items were sent next working day with Royal Mail’s 1st class (untracked)
I recently received a couple of refund requests saying that items missed the arrive by dates and buyers asked for a refund. I have shipped them on time but as you know delivery times are beyond out control.
Because I bought labels through Amazon, I was thinking that my financial loss would be compensated by Amazon. However they didn’t reimburse for these refunds.
Then what’s the point of buying labels on Amazon, especially when Royal Mail business prices are lower and creating labels are way more easier?
Could you please advice is there a way to get compensated when FBS orders refunded?
Thank you in advance

So you refunded or Amazon? If the latter, it’s unusual for FBM. It wasn’t SFP was it?

Why would amazon cover the refund? They merely facilitate the sale of the labels, they aren’t the courier.
If a customer requests a refund due to it being late, you should direct them to open a return request. You would be liable for cost of the return label, the product and the outgoing shipping.
Depending on the courier used, you may have some recourse with the courier to claim for the outbound shipping, though it would be dependent on if there was a timed promise on the service.
Note one of the supposed benefits of buy shipping is you shud be protected from ODR in the case of an A - Z being raised. Even then though, you’d be liable for the refund.

The main benefits are that Amazon will remove any negative feedback for delivery issues. If you have an A-Z raised against you then you shouldn’t get an order defect but you still have to refund. Often though Amazon will give you an order defect as they don’t follow that policy well.
Any refunds are still your responsibility if the item does not arrive. You have to refund the customer and put a claim in with Royal Mail for compensation of the lost item.
If you are sending letter sized products you have to use Amazon Buy Shipping to be valid for VTR and you can’t use your negotiated rates. You can choose to send Large Letter as this will be valid for VTR.
