Request - combine orders

I know Royal Mail don’t want us combining orders.
I know Amazon don’t want us combining orders.

A big part of course is losing money. But if Amz are not going to make a penny from Letter postage…

For example, yesterday on Amz a customer ordered the same card twice, 2 minutes apart. Posted separately as per Amazon’s rules. What an environmentally unfriendly thing to do. And what if one arrives before the other.

On Etsy, a customer placed 2 separate orders - a card and a print. All went in the one box. One set of postage. One tracking code. Better for the environment. No issues. No problems. No danger of one item being delivered before the other, making them worry about the other.

I know they won’t change, but it would be nice if we could send multiple orders as one, if they are going to the same person/address and were placed around the same time. I daren’t even put on a listing something about please place a single order if buying more than one item from the same seller.

 Would be nice if people agree. If you see any issues with this (apart from the obvious), that I haven’t considered, let me know. I know it won’t happen, just… so frustrating.

Agree completely.

i’ve even been tempted to combine orders when a customer orders somethig from me on Ebay and something else on Amazon (doesn’t happen often but does happen!) but have never actually done it.

However I have frequently combined orders that people have placed separately.

I find they do it more often on personalised items, probably to be sure that the correct personalisation is applied to the correct item, so we get 7 orders (one in blue with Monday, one in red with Tuesday, one in green for Wednesday etc) rather than 1 order with 7 items.

Does Amazon actually expect me to send 7 items in 7 board backed envelopes or 7 boxes? All while saying they are doing everything they can to help the environment.

Totally agree with you on this.

Absolutely ridiculous, that we can’t combine orders to go to the same address, for so many different reasons, all of which are very valid.

Surely this could be changed by Amazon, all we’d need to do is upload the same tracking number to the order actually being processed through C&D or Amazon Buy Shipping.

It could be easily done by Amazon, just give us an option to combine two orders. It happens to me regularly with my small consumables, I would save one postage and one mailing bag etc if they went together. To add insult to injury, twice the buyers complained, once because she got one order one day and the other the day after and they were meant to arrive together. They were posted in the same batch, one arrived early. The second time the buyer told me I should be more careful when sending orders, if they go to the same address they should be posted together. I wanted to reply that he should have been more careful when placing orders! Obviously I didn’t

Hi, on occasion I have had two orders for the same item made within just a few minutes. After sending a few of these I discovered that it could be an error and customer only wanted one. Returns followed, now I tend to email to check whether they want both and if not for the customer to cancel second. As for combining orders, I have done this but am a bit hesitant these days and so many chancers out there.

It’s all part of a better experience having your orders placed from the same company minutes apart with a shipment notification minutes apart arrive in two or more separate boxes/jiffy bags on separate days.

It’s what Amazon customers apparently want!

If you decided to dispatch both orders using none tracked service and combining both orders wouldn’t this address the issue?

I always combine the order for domestic postage. As far as I know, the Amazon policy has clearly stated that we are advised not to combine the order for international order due to custom charges, but not to mention domestic shipping.

I hope something from Amazon is listening, because combining orders would actually be beneficial for customers with things arriving in one package at the same time.

As others have said, I’ve also had instances of multiple orders not arriving at the same time, prompting the customer to complain.

I’ve resorted to combining orders for a while, but a proper Amazon-approved method is needed.

Our third party shipping solution (ShipStation) allows combining of Amazon orders, it warns you that your VTR may be affected.

Luckily we send enough volume for it not to be a concern with VTR currently, as it’s only a small percentage of orders that can be combined and I’m not even sure if it impacts one or both of them.
