Amazon will not move on this matter, electrical safety is taken very seriously in Europe.

I am surprised as a factory owner, manufacturer and distributor of goods you haven’t had to address this issue before on your other wares.

Did the documents which you provided originate in China?

If yes, you should know that Amazon doesn’t accept Chinese documents, invoices or certificates, especially for products belonging into this category.

The product requires EU CE marking and subsequent Declaration of Conformity , this forms a liability from the manufacturer the product is safe and meets required EU Regulations and safety requirements. Be aware a large percentile of Chinese products are not truly CE marked and carry the China Export Logo which is a fake copy of CE marking.

Bostock is correct in the request if you have a genuine Declaration of Conformity who signed this off and who is the testing company?

A properly issued Declaration of Conformity is always issued by the product’s manufacturer (or representative), importer or distributor; never by a test house or Notified Body.

The Declaration needs to be signed by someone who has the power to make binding commitments on behalf of the manufacturer, but for the Declaration to be truly meaningful the signatory should also be someone who has the authority to commit the resources required to ensure that the CE marking process is properly completed. The effect of the Declaration is to identify an individual in the company who can be held responsible if the CE marking on a product turns out to be invalid.

Each directive has slightly different requirements for the content of its Declaration but some features are common to all:

Name/address of manufacturer (and of responsible person where applicable)
Model and/or serial number of equipment
List of relevant directives
List of standards used, with dates + amendments
Declaration statement
Name and position of person signing
Signature
Date

The manufacturer or a representation of the organisation placing the product on the market should then sign the Declaration.

The Declaration of Conformity is a special document, which the manufacturer signs to say that the product meets all of the requirements of the applicable directives. It must be issued by the manufacturer, or by the person placing the product on the EU market if the manufacturer is not based in Europe.

The manufacturer of the product is legally obliged to supply the EU/CE Certification required for approval for sale within the EU , this will include the Declaration of Conformity and relevant testing certificates required by Amazon or any other channels to Sell products within the EU.

How a product complies with EU safety, health and environmental requirements, and how to place a CE marking on your product.

Chargers and Batteries that do not carry genuine testing certification and safety approval represent a serious safety risk , Amazon are very right in ensuring these products meet strict standards for sale within the EU, there are numerous articles about the serious safety risks relating to these products.

Uncertified chargers come with serious safety concerns. Similar to unofficial batteries, uncertified chargers can be bought at a reduced price online, from overseas or in high street shops and these kind of electrical products may present a higher risk of exploding or catching fire. Not only do they present a risk to you, the use of uncertified chargers may also damage your phone (which in turn could void your guarantee).

Cheap devices often fail to meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment Regulations Act 1994. The money that you save comes with extremely high risks and therefore buying a branded/certified charger is essential to avoid often fatal repercussions.

You should be aware that the majority of Chinese CE Marking and testing is not genuine, it is the manufacturers responsbility to ensure the product meets EU requirements if they plan for their product to be sold within the EU.
